Cruz takes aim at New Hampshire voters for upcoming tour
Houston Chronicle ^ | January 17, 2016 | Kathleen Ronayne and Scott Bauer, AP

"..."He represents us - tea party America," said Mike Walker, a police officer from nearby New Ipswich, New Hampshire. He wore a Second Amendment button to the event and said protecting gun rights was his priority issue, along with securing the nation's borders.

Walker also likes that Cruz has frequently butted heads with Republicans and party leadership. And while he also likes Trump, Walker said he prefers Cruz because he's stronger on gun issues and not as big of a "wildcard" as the billionaire from New York.

Cruz's trademark anti-establishment pitch, filled with quotes from scripture and support from evangelical leaders, has thus far served him well among conservatives in Iowa, where he's locked in a narrow race with Trump ahead of the Feb. 1 caucus. But Cruz hopes a strong finish there would spark momentum in New Hampshire a week later - and beyond.

Cruz held a pro-gun event at a New Hampshire shooting range last week and hit that issue hard in his pitch to Milford voters Sunday night. Cruz highlighted his support for the Second Amendment just two minutes into his stump speech, eliciting cheers from the hundreds who came to see him.

The first-term senator's backers say his message can consolidate enough conservative support to do well in New Hampshire, which tends to favor more moderate Republicans. As Trump surges ahead of his rivals in state polls, the rest of the GOP field is scrambling to grab whatever support remains....

...."In the last election, there were so many... registered Republicans who are evangelicals who did not come out and vote," said Andrew Dean, a New Hampshire pastor who leads a church of roughly 125 members."

“Have you completely given up on governor Walker?”

Walker has been out of the race for a long time, almost as long as Rick Perry.

A halo would be a bit over the top for ted but I wouldn't wince at a pair of halos over those two sweet little angels :-)

An interesting piece.

Roger Kimball, PJ Media - Jan 17, 2016: Thucydides on Donald Trump & 'New York Values'

".....9/11 was not what he meant by "New York Values." Donald Trump knows it. Rudy Giuliani certainly ought to know it. And the media attacking Cruz might or might not know it but could not care less. It's a story: who cares about the truth?

Cruz has had some good responses, including a clever video "apology." "It is amusing," he said, "seeing the media elite in New York and D.C. run around with their hair on fire wondering, 'What on earth are New York values?' I'll tell you and the rest of the country, people understand exactly what that is. In South Carolina when I was there, the people there certainly understand it."

Cruz also posted a video of Donald Trump explaining why he supports "partial-birth abortion" (that's New Yorkese for "infanticide") and other liberal causes because, after all, he was born and raised in New York, not some Hicksville place like Iowa.

Actually, it might have been Governor Cuomo who best explained what "New York Values" meant when he said that conservatives who are pro-life or pro-Second Amendment "have no place in the state of New York." There was a lot of conservative outrage about Cuomo's remark (though not from Donald Trump, who had donated $84,000 to Cuomo), which is interesting since it was functionally equivalent to what Cruz said.

It's too early to predict exactly how this little drama will play out. But already we can draw a couple useful lessons from the spectacle.".....

Another thoughtful piece.

Fritz Pettyjohn, American Thinker - Jan 18, 2016: Let it be, New York

"...............................In fact, if there is one trait which distinguishes New York City from the heartland it's the question of self-reliance. Most New Yorkers rely on public transport and other public services. They support an enormous police force to deal with crime. They're not prepared to defend themselves.

In Iowa, Kansas and Nebraska people tend to look after themselves. They drive their own cars, and if need be, will use their personal firearms to defend themselves, their families, and their communities. They know that by and large the police solve crimes, they don't prevent them. For that, you're on your own.

So to all you Gothamites who are upset with Cruz for disrespecting you, I have a message from the heartland. We're not going to try to change who you are.

And we'd appreciate the same treatment."

After looking at Ted’s actions for Bush, conerning Roberts, California Proposition 187, Illegal Aliens and their children, his opinion on the 14th Amendment, his lying about his efforts on the Gang of 8 Bill, his votes on Corker and TPA, I’d say Ted has a better shot at being a good Democrat.

At least Trump wasn’t in a position of power when he was wrong.

I read this post before look to see who it was from... then, crap. You again.

You are so full of it you cannot write a post without lying through your teeth. You only saving grace is that you are going to be humiliated and disgraced by your “Trump”.

It really sucks when you have to deal with Ted’s real record doesn’t it.

I told you lemmings he wasn’t what you thought he was, and you’re in full tilt denial.

Ted doesn’t embarrass you already?

LOL

"...As Solicitor General, [Sen. Ted] Cruz [TX-R] argued before the Supreme Court nine times, winning five cases and losing four.

Cruz has authored 70 United States Supreme Court briefs and presented 43 oral arguments, including nine before the United States Supreme Court. Cruz's record of having argued before the Supreme Court nine times is more than any practicing lawyer in Texas or any current member of Congress. Cruz has commented on his nine cases in front of the U.S. Supreme Court: "We ended up year after year arguing some of the biggest cases in the country. There was a degree of serendipity in that, but there was also a concerted effort to seek out and lead conservative fights."...........

You good Christians like Ted, sure don’t find forgiveness in your quiver do you.

Last time I checked, there was only one perfect man. I doubt you can tell us who He was.

One thing’s for sure, it wasn’t Donald Trump. He’s a man that doesn’t smoke, doesn’t drink, doesn’t do drugs, raised all his kids to be productive members of society and hasn’t been lying about his past or his agenda.

He’s been married one more time than Reagan. We somehow survived Reagan.

Ted has been lying all along.

Remember that poison pill to kill the Gang of Eight Bill two years ago, the increase of the H1-B visas to 500% of what they were. Ted told us he only put that in there as a poison pill. Low and behold he was still hawking that about four months ago. Lie!

Remember his brilliance at Constitutional matters. In 1999 he was working with Bush to trash Proposition 187. The tenets of it make up a good portion of his plan to curb illegal immigration now. Good Conservative? LOL

Who knew a Constitutional Scholar like Ted would oppose State’s Rights? Good Conservative? Yeah.

Ted is one of the only guys I know who Claims to be a Conservative, and yet defaults in 2011 to saying the 14th Amendment undeniably gives citizenship to the children of illegal immigrants born here. Even Levin can’t swallow that line of reasoning.

Guess who hired John Roberts to join the Bush team in Florida? Oh that’s right, the Constitutional whiz Ted Cruz. He described Roberts as a very solid Constitutional scholar.

When Roberts was up for the nomination to become the Chief Justice, who was praising him and his prowess on Constitutional matter? Ted.

Ted is so sly, that he votes lock stock and barrel with the Democrats on Corker and TPA. He is convinced he fooled every Democrat and every Republican but one in that body to toss their vote for a Conservative Bill.

On TPP Ted said he didn’t want it. Then Ted voted for a bill that had to come into being so TPP could be lofted and passed. Once again, he was convinced that he had fooled all the Democrats and Republicans into joining him to take the Conservative path. This in the U. S. Senate, a body that can hardly pass anything at all by the slimmest of margins if there is even a hint of Conservatism in it.

Meanwhile all of Teds supporters praise him as being the best Conservative since..., well, ever!

Hogwash.

Mr, Have I God an Excuse for You, certainly doesn’t have ones that I’ll bite off on.

I think he’s as shifty as a used car salesman.

That’s not something I want near the White House.
