Bernie Sanders is no one's idea of a camera-ready presidential candidate. He's a "democratic socialist" running against an icon of the Democratic establishment. (And as satisfying as anti-establishment sentiment may feel for some right now -- the establishment is still pretty damn important.)
His white hair is kind of wild, he's awkward, doesn't smile much, he hunches over and waves his arms when he speaks. He campaigns in rolled-up shirtsleeves and has pens in his shirt pocket.
When it comes down to it, his radical policy positions and general cranky-grandpa vibe don't exactly scream "President of the United States."

This is a 'puff piece' basically that we should congratulate young people for backing Bernie.
Perhaps they should investigate this man who supported the Soviet Union and other communist dictatorships?
Perhaps young people should know 100 million people were murdered by their own communist governments in the 20th century?
That's what we want to embrace?
The democratic race is comprised of crazy old white people.
Oh yeah he is an Anti-Establishment bloke who has been in Congress for 30 years fighting the “Establishment.” He is part of the problem many of which he created.
The world has gone bonkers.
More like the Crazy Uncle who hoards Old Communist pamphlets and newspapers.
My Millenial tells me that most of his peers are either dumb as rocks or bat*hit crazy Narcissists.
Smart boy, my kid.
You got a washed up, bitter old communist who is trying to get back to the halcyon, then you have Bernie.
There is no democRAT party anymore. Just a bunch of snot-nosed incompetents hell bent on exploiting the poverty they create.
The GOP is genetic with ‘em, wouldn’t you say, South40?
However, unlike real grandpas who slip a few bills into the kids pocket, Bernie picks their pocket, and sends them a copy of “Das Kapital” for their birthday.
Must be the result of “outcome-based education” - brainwashing and propaganda in the schools. They don’t educate anymore. They create mindless hypersensitive liberal drones. Hard to believe a p*ssed off old geezer could be interesting to them but he says all the magic words I guess. And hey - the alternative is Hillary. What a country. It sure ain’t the one I grew up in.
Sanders is a ‘died in the wool’ commie.
Apparently so are half of the Democrats in Iowa, at least according to the Des Moines Register’s recent poll.
Yeah, Millenials should be thrilled to get all this debt, SS, Medicare, Bern’s proposals, et al dumped in their laps
Anyone who buys into this old fool’s BS deserves what they get
George McGovern without the WW2 hero status.. I really don’t think he would win a state.. even Vermont.. I’ll concede Washington DC
Ever made money with it?
We will need 50 college educated welders and tractor mechanics to one Art History major, to keep all the communal farms running.
Political Science majors will be restricted to Party Members, and the sons and daughters of Party members.
Students aren't very bright, going in, but this bunch is more stupid than most. It's not like all this is new.
“More like the Crazy Uncle who hoards Old Communist pamphlets and newspapers.”
Yeah, he probably does his bedtime reading from “The Thoughts of Chairman Mao!”
While attending the University of Chicago, Sanders joined the Young People's Socialist League, the youth wing of the Socialist Party USA. He also organized for a communist front, the United Packinghouse Workers Union, which at the time was under investigation by the House Committee on Un-American Activities.
After graduating with a political-science degree, Sanders moved to Vermont, where he headed the American People's History Society, an organ for Marxist propaganda. There, he produced a glowing documentary on the life of socialist revolutionary Eugene Debs, who was jailed for espionage during the Red Scare and hailed by the Bolsheviks as "America's greatest Marxist."
This subversive hero of Sanders, denounced even by liberal Democrats as a "traitor," bashed "the barons of Wall Street" and hailed the "triumphant" Bolshevik revolution in Russia.
"Those Russian comrades of ours have made greater sacrifices, have suffered more, and have shed more heroic blood than any like number of men and women anywhere on earth," Debs proclaimed. "They have laid the foundation of the first real democracy that ever drew the breath of life in this world."
In a 1918 speech in Canton, Ohio, Debs reaffirmed his solidarity with Lenin and Trotsky, despite clear evidence of their violent plunder and treachery.
Sanders still hangs a portrait of Debs on the wall in his Senate office. ..."
"In fact, climate change is directly related to the growth of terrorism," said Sanders.
"And if we do not get our act together and listen to what the scientists say, you're going to see counties all over the world...they're going to be struggling over limited amounts of water, limited amounts of land to grow their crops, and you're going to see all kinds of international conflict."
Sanders said at the second Democratic debate in Iowa that climate change poses the biggest threat to America's national security and to security of the world. ..."
