Donald Trump Says Ted Cruz 'Was a Canadian Citizen Up Until 15 Months Ago'

Donald Trump, never one to mince words, is saying, "I told you so" on Saturday after news broke that a Texas lawyer was challenging Ted Cruz's eligibility to be president, on the grounds of his Canadian birth.

"Ted Cruz was born in Canada and was a Canadian citizen until 15 months ago. Lawsuits have just been filed with more to follow. I told you so," Trump tweeted Saturday morning.

That kicked off a string of seven Cruz-centric messages, including references to a New York Times report that Cruz, 45, forgot to disclose a Goldman Sachs loan while he was running for the Senate in 2012.

It was an epic smack down by Trump on Cruz today. I’ve never seen a Twitter streamrolling like that. 30,000+ retweets. Trump train is rolling. Full steam ahead.

Yep, many many people do not know Cruz was born in Canada.

I saw those numbers, too, and couldn't believe it.

Not that I can blame them really. I had no idea he still had Canadian citizenship while he was running for Senator since his family had already been here for decades.

Ditto and every poll validates my thoughts.

You are being used by the Establishment and sheepishly falling for it hook, line and sinker.

Hard to understand that up to 15 months ago, Cruz could have run for Prime Minister of Canada or for U.S. President.

I'm sure he would make a fine Canadian Prime Minister.

Harvard law school takes the biggest hit. Apparently Harvard law school, has dropped the class regarding Constitutional requirements to be president. At least the Obama crew knew they had to produce US birth certificate.

Heck, Ted can’t even run for Prime minister now.

He really screwed up.

The Conscience of a Conservative was once required reading at Harvard. History 169b.

If Ted Cruz had Johnny Cash’s warm deep voice, he’d be 10 points higher in the polls. The nasal high pitch isn’t an asset.

That is 100% correct.

Maybe there a waiting period and Ted can go back and give the Prime Minister spot a shot. Maybe he could get another loan from Goldman Sachs to help out.

He has a Cuban parent as well, so Cuba considers him a Cuban citizen — perhaps he could have ran for President of Cuba. Or still could.

Maybe he should deport himself and get in the back of the line.

Senators and Congressmen don’t need a security clearance.
