Because it sustains their fantasy that an inexperienced, glib, <1 term senator will become the nominee.

This is going to be a two horse race. A race between a conservative and a moderate. Same as always in our party.

WHY DIDNT CRUZ DISCLOSE THE LOANS AS REQUIRED BY LAW ON FEC FORMS?

EXCERPTED FROM CONSERVATIVE TREEHOUSE The FEC forms were the only way Texas voters could have known about the loans. Obviously, if the Texas electorate discovered candidate Cruz was using his connections to Goldman Sachs and Citibank (CitiGroup), while simultaneously campaigning against the same institutions, his political opponents would have been able to point to a particular ideological hypocrisy in that regard.

However, this is actually the BIGGER issue. Why does the FEC require a federal candidate to disclose a loan taken out to finance their campaign?

<><> The FEC requires candidates to disclose bank loans taken out to finance their bids for office simply because such loans can be used to subvert campaign finance laws.

<><> If a candidate takes out a loan, in any amount, any entity can repay the loan on the candidate/s behalf – and that’s a way to subvert rules on the amount of contributions.

<><> If, as an example, those who control/influence policy objectives within Goldman Sachs wanted to hold influence upon a candidate, they could simply loan him/her money and then allow repayment by their own group. This is also why FEC rules only allow candidates to take out loans, to finance campaigns, that have traditional collateral to back them up.

Think about it this way. A candidate has $500,000 in traditional assets: a house, bank account, investment account etc. That candidate is, by FEC regs, allowed to take out a $500k loan against such assets. This is traditional loan/collateral, equity, considerations.

A candidate CANNOT, however, take out an unsecured signature loan for their campaign. If a candidate could take out an unsecured signature loan, it opens the door wide open to corrupt exploitation by external influence.

The candidate with $500k in assets, or a Manchurian candidate with zero in assets, could be given a $2 million loan – which the loan originator would not expect to get back. In this example, third parties, who are part of the influence equation, could pay back the loan on the candidate/s behalf, avoid FEC/public scrutiny and hold influence over what the elected political official does in office.

====================================================

Was this second scenario a method for Wall Street, via Goldman Sachs, to put the Ivy League educated husband of one of their employees into office, simply to insure that as a U.S. Senator he was friendly to their interests?

I also wouldn’t mind him being AG.....in fact, if Trump wanted to make him AG and then right before second term put him on the Court.....either way is incredibly fine with me.

I saw today where Trumps latest Twitter is focusing in on Cruz’s wife working for “New York based” Goldman Sachs and that he is getting money from “New York based Wall Street Firms”. You can’t bash Wall Street and at the same time take their money (Unless your name is Cruz or Clinton).

I said that only the polls will show who won Thursday’s debate. It’s not looking good for Cruz. Perhaps the eligibilty issue will become moot if this thing boils down to Trump and Rubio, but don’t count out Bush. I think his commercials are having an effect.

That’s what I thought. I don’t think he’s much of a politician, frankly.

Actually, it’s not Cruz’ “meaness, cold heart or hate”, it’s that ol’ Ivy League condescension. I’m betting there’s a recording of Cruz somewhere referring to “his base” as rubes.

It’s looking like Trump v. Rubio or Trump v. Bush.

Prediction. If Trump gets the nomination and depending on how the polls are saying he’s doing in Florida he just might pick Rubio as his VP. I don’t like Rubio but he would carry Florida for the republicans. If Cruz wants the VP slot he needs to buy a copy of Rosetta Stone, Spanish version and get busy learning the language.

Thank God he showed his trueness now. We would have been screwed if he pulled this junk in July or August or worse October. What I find interesting is all the bragging about him being a master debater. Our first hint should have been bragging about how great he was in College!!!!!!! Who on Earth brags about anything in College. The last time I spoke about anything in college was perhaps typing it on a resume. A 44 year old should not be bragging about what he or she did in college. But you know what? I knew he was sorta a fraud. I think if anybody ever did a REAL investigation into his life, it would NOT be sqeeky clean like his fans believe.

By my calculations in a general election Trump wins verses the dem 51 to 49.

I calculate he gets 20% of the dem vote; 75% of the indies, and 70% of the GOP. I figure this based on a 40/40/20 in the electorate usually used and assuming the vote were held today with equal number voting between registered dems and GOP and Hitlery being the candidate.

If she is removed from the field, the election will be a toss up depending on how many of the indies have had enough with the Dems and obamhole and how many of the GOPErs don't vote or worse vote for the Dem.

One thing not in the equation yet is the market tanking 10% in two weeks during the time most are examining their IRAs. Anecdotally, yesterday I was chatting with a sales person at Lowes, we are doing a lot of work on house, and he was lamenting how much his IRA is down this year already plus their floor traffic seems to be drying up.

Your depicting Cruz as U Heep was priceless.

Dickens wrote him as a scheming, plotting character...the paradigm
***-kisser.... ingratiating himself into the good graces of his betters.

Sums up Cruz to a tee.

I totally agree with you - it seems that “elites” love to brag about their colleges. I don’t think I’ve ever seen an episode of Hardball where Chris Matthews didn’t bring up either his degree or the degree/college of someone else on his show. This is because most of these people either do not have military backgrounds or business backgrounds. When I was young, my elders either spoke about their army backgrounds or their jobs at IBM, GM, Western Electric, Philip Morris and Pfizer! None of them mentioned how they won a debating contest as a sophomore!

I remember a friend of mine telling me never to date or marry a man who continued to wear his college ring into his late twenties. At the time I didn’t understand - but now I do!

“it was the worst mistake Ted Cruz ever uttered.”

Like Dean’s scream, Dukakis’ tank, and Kerry’s bunny suit? I hope it doesn’t come to that ‘cause I hope Cruz can stay in the race.

Go Trump!
