Churchill's father, Lord Randolph Churchill, the third son of John Spencer-Churchill, 7th Duke of Marlborough, was a politician; and his mother, Lady Randolph Churchill (née Jennie Jerome) was the daughter of American millionaire Leonard Jerome. Churchill was born on 30 November 1874, two months prematurely, in a bedroom in Blenheim Palace, Woodstock, Oxfordshire.[4][5]
Jennie Jerome (1854â1921), the American-born mother of Winston Churchill
His mother was born in New York:

Churchill always considered himself as half American.
Rightly so.
Churchill was a great man.
But not eligible to be president. The Constitution means something, and the NBC concept is supposed to confirm allegiance to the USA alone, with no other allegiance being conceivable. In Churchill’s case, clearly the UK had his allegiance.
I’m not sure Canada would ever have Cruz’s allegiance, but the concept is the same, and I think Cruz has a very serious problem.
Conservatives complained about Obama for years — now the shoe is on the other foot, and I for one do not feel comfortable saying, “Oh, it’s different this time. This guy is my guy. He’s OK. He’s Conservative ...”
NBC is one of three mandated filters for qualification. Neither Cruz nor Rubio meet the NBC requirement as I understand the concept and literature which supports it. Although that is not the only reason I will be withholding my vote for them. As to Trump’s aspiration for the office I have no confidence as to his true position as stated on any important matter as his positions seem supported upon a foundation of sand. As to the other Republican candidates I feel I am being deceived by them in greater or lessor degrees and see no reason to support them. I’ve supported Republican candidates since I came of age and understanding hoping for the best and having been served disappointment at every turn of events including my best hope, Ronald Reagan. Members of Congress are either corrupt or engaged in active subversion of our societal order, it’s structure of power and hierarchy as described in the constitutions of the United States and the states of which that union is comprised. I am beginning to believe systemic collapse would be an improvement despite the risks involved. Are there no truly honorable men available? It appears not.
” I am beginning to believe systemic collapse would be an improvement despite the risks involved.”
As do all who value their liberty over peace. There are many things worse than war or an early death. Slavery and serfdom are but two.
To paraphrase a line from Braveheart, “What have you got if you do not have your FREEDOM!”
Where does it say that?
So, say CC_guy decides to run for President. The caliph of ISIS, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, recognizing a dangerous enemy, decrees that CC_guy is a citizen of the Islamic State. The Democrat Party seizes upon the Caliph's proclamation and goes to court claiming CC_guy has dual allegiance, and thus, is not Natural Born!
Better put a Declaratory Judgement on that!
You aren't the only one. If the GOPe can't get their stuff together and present us with a pair of worthy and eligible candidates, Hillary can have it as far as I'm concerned.
I'm not playing the hold-yer-nose-and-vote game anymore.
Why does this ridiculous scenario keep popping up?
The United States is out of the jurisdiction of anyone in the middle east just like Canada is out of the jurisdiction of the United States.
I wonder if Jerome Avenue in NYC was named by THAT family of Jeromes?
Different areas of NYC are known for certain things, i.e., the Financial District; or the Garment District. Well, there’s also a Used Automobile District, and that’s Jerome Avenue. If you want to see a used car world that will blow your mind; go to Jerome Avenue.
I believe Jerome was also responsible for joining August Belmont in establishing the Belmont Stakes horse race in NY...trivia time!
Thanks. I like trivia. Maybe I’m warped. When my wife and I take our daily 1 mile morning walk around town, I usually make it a point to cross the street somewhere along the way, and I do it by jaywalking. I somehow feel better after doing it. However, that’s about the limit of my lawlessness. ð
Is that called “walking on the wild side”?
Nice to start the day that way...I envy you your commitment!
Anytime you want to “trivia” something, FReep mail me...I love it too!
Cheers to your wife and you!
Thank you for agreeing that the senator is a NBC.
If he were not, he would not be qualified to be Vice President.
Because birfer crackpots keep making the argument that, because X is, or could be, or could have been, a citizen of Y, X has dual allegiance to Y, and thus is not qualified to be President.
The counter-argument is to point out that, to recognize such a claim, the US would be ceding to Y its sovereignty on the question of who is qualified to be President.
Thus the reductio ad absurdum, in which Y is ISIS!
If ISIS is not qualified to be Y, then neither is Canada, the UK, or Kenya.
Cruz is NBC. Period. Even if he forgot to renounce (he didn't) his natural born Canadian citizenship, which he forgot he had.
No, what you're doing is trying to use it as an excuse to cancel the sovereignty of another nation within it's own borders.
Cruz is NBC. Period.
That's a lot of nonsensical ranting just to arrive at that erroneous conclusion. Despite what some might think, our government's laws don't run the world .
As a naturalized citizen, Cruz is NOT eligible.
