Cruz told the Howie Carr radio show that Trump should stop playing Born in the USA at his rallies a song thats an obvious dig at the Canadian-born Texas senator.
I think he may shift in his new rallies to playing New York, New York because Donald comes from New York and he embodies New York values, Cruz said on the show Tuesday.
The comment wasnt intended as a compliment.
Cruz supporters in Iowa have been testing possible attack lines against Trump in a telephone poll and one of them brands the GOP presidential front-runner as a New York liberal.

Those Texans look even happier than the New Yorkers. Maybe it’s the warmer weather.
Yeah, can you believe that Trump had the nerve to rent a theater to show 13 Hours? He wanted people to see it. The nerve of that man. GO TRUMP.
1999. His views remained consistent until Romney blew it in 2012 and then he seems to have undergone a complete metamorphosis. At the same time he had this epiphany, he copyrighted the slogan “Make America Great Again”.
Funny, New York values don’t show up in that poll. Guess they weren’t one of the choices. Maybe someone needs to tell Ted that.
They got those Goldman Sachs values going on.
Also... Most of NY State is Conservative BTW. For Cruz to paint them with the same brush as the NYC liberals was a bad mistake IMHO.
Strange, I don’t understand why you’re on this forum, located in California.
I don’t understand why you’d dis folks from the state that donates more than any other state during each FReepathon.
This forum’s values don’t suit you?
The Californian’s values who support the forum don’t suit you?
Don’t let the door hit you on the way off the forum.
Worse thing here is that neither one seems to realize Born in The USA is an anti American song.
Trump’s New York values may not mean anything to you, but out here in flyover country, they’re despised.
People have been dredging up these past statements and interviews of Trump since last summer and they have had no effect. And they won't. The issues raised since he announced will be what voters base their votes upon. And we only have to go back to last Spring and Summer to find Ted's now abandoned positions on immigration and trade agreements. The Trump effect sent Ted to flip/flopping on those key issues.
Cruz jumped the shark on his one, and the irony is that everyone figured Trump would be the one to sink himself this way.
I'm not just in flyover country, but Heart of Dixie flyover country. Trump is doing better than just fine. People are looking at the campaign issues and not Ted's push poll smears.
He sure didn't help himself. When it comes to immigration issues, Ted has Border State values, and that is really a serious smear. He fits in with W, Juan McCain, Flake, Perry, and a long list of double-talkers on border and immigration issues.
Yep, NY has some red counties, but those huge cities spill out and color most counties blue. But it would be amazing if Trump could be the first candidate since Reagan to win NY. Not impossible this go round.
slogans are hardly epiphanys
You'd better add Trump to that list - he has been all over the map on immigration over the years. He talked about Republicans being "mean-spirited" on immigration in 2012; talked about the idea of letting the "good" illegal immigrants stay in the country in early 2015; then a few weeks later started talking about deporting them, but letting the good ones back in on an "expedited" basis; talked about all of the illegals he has working for him, etc.
The winner: 41% say Trump. 26% Cruz.
After this, Cruz numbers to crash like the stock market.
Lots of people have been all over the map on immigration and other issues. People just have to listen to this year’s candidates and decide which to go with. Definitely Trump over Cruz and all others in the Republican field.
Trump made immigration a major issue while the others preferred to whisper around it and avoid specifics.
