Rudy Giuliani: Ted Cruz’s view of New York’s ‘values’ completely ignores city’s strength
NY Daily News ^

Posted on 01/15/2016 12:08:19 PM PST by springwater13

After all we have been through as a city and as one undivided nation, to have a United States senator running for President paint New York as a city consumed with greed, sin and media obsession is shocking. Sen. Ted Cruz should apologize to the people of New York for his remarks and to the people of the United States for his crass attempt to divide us. And whatever our inclinations in the presidential race, all of us should be proud of Donald Trump's strong, truthful and eloquent defense of our great city and nation.

As the late, great New Yorker, Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan, made clear in his authoritative analysis of the federal budget, every year New York sends billions of dollars more to Washington, D.C., than Washington sends to us. And one of the reasons for that is Wall Street, the financial engine that makes all the programs we support, Republican, Democrat and bi-partisan, possible. When Sen. Cruz and so many of the other candidates of both parties come to New York City, they seem pretty happy to be here and are more than willing to take our money.

Well if you're willing to take our money, then show us the respect we deserve and earned and don't try to divide us from our fellow Americans.

It is New York, New York; to New York City, New York. No change.

Rookie mistake.
He will do better in 2024.

Yep. I think the Nixon comparison is apt. Cruz has talent but is not ready for prime time. If he can mature and abandon his globalist positions he will be in a good place to run again for POTUS.

“It’s just that Christie has been such an enormous (no pun intended) disappointment.”

We can agree with that. 15 years ago, I would have wanted Rudy there as AG, but for some reason W passed on him. Maybe he was already sold on the taking circuit and didn’t really want it. Christie would be a no-nonsense AG.

Is Trump still connected to the Chicago Emmanuels????

Trump donated $50,000 to Rahm Emanuel's (Obama's man) first run for Mayor of Chicago....that was no small change when you consider his other political donations...

Ari Emanuel..(Rham's brother) is one of Trumps agents..,has called his brother, a "close friend."....when Trump was aksed if Ari was still an agent for Trump he neither admitted nor denied.

AUGUST 27, 2015: Trump relayed this to the Chicago Tribune editorial board: Trump..."I do respect Rahm. I gave him a contribution because his brother is a great friend of mine Ari, king of Hollywood. I love Ari. And Ari asked me to give him a contribution. I like Rahm very much.

The daily news is a rag written for barely-literate morons. The non-productive half of New York reads the daily news. Rich self-righteous liberals read the times. Barely-literate semi-normal people read the post.

“He said New York values. He attacked everyone in the State of New York.”

What exactly are these “values” shared by everyone in the state of New York?

Trump is a FAMILY man BIG TIME.

And unlike Ted, what you see is what you get and TED wears masks...which have been coming off lately, exposing him to be something he led us all to believe he wasn't....a slimy pol.

Cruz basically insulted everyone in and from the state of New York. He will never recover from this.

Cruz missed the obvious point.. "ALL VALUES MATTER".. instead he pointed to the DIFFERENCES by locale.

Does that help explain my posts now ?

Kind of.

I've lived in the Boston area for my whole life. Our state is liberal. Boston is liberal. Cambridge is moonbat.

These are Boston values.

Who can argue that?

Yes, a couple of years ago a couple of terrorists bombed the marathon. The gun-phobic Bostonians cowered in place as directed by the authorities. Then after the police caught the terrorists, Bostonians emerged to buy Boston Strong t-shirts and hold candlelight vigils.

And Boston is still liberal and Cambridge is still moonbat.

And New York is still liberal.

Sheesh.

Trump couldn't argue with Cruz so he waved the bloody shirt like a coward. It was a cringe-worthy response.

“None of the things you talk about understanding were things that Cruz actually said.

Cruz attacked “New York values”. He did not say New York City values. He did not say New York liberal values. He did not talk about any of the NY politicians that you listed.

Cruz was attempting to attack Trump but ended up attacking everyone in New York State.

You better read post #93 and see if you agree with the values the governor of NY says they are.

I also think Cruz is a good man. His campaign has been successful and he has risen to second place in the polls.

I think he should have been more thoughtful and more articulate in his statement. If he wants to attack NY liberals he should have at it. There is a lot to attack.

However, Cruz is intelligent and should know how to use his words to actually say what he means, not make statements and leave it to others to say he did not mean what he said, he meant something else.

The attacks on Trump for being friends with and donating to liberal politicians have not worked. Neither have the many other accusations such as racism.

I think Cruz is an intelligent and principled candidate and would make a good president. I think he needs to rethink this latest attack and be more articulate.

Trump has a hotel in Chicago...just spreading the usual “donations” around. He OWNED Rahm.

“What exactly are these “values” shared by everyone in the state of New York?”

They are paraphrased in post #93 by the current governor of NY.

You better read what Cruz said. He wasn’t attacking Cuomo. We don’t need another divider in chief.

Cruz did not criticize the Governor of NY. Had he articulated it skillfully there were a lot of good points he could have made.

New Yorkers did NOT cower; there's the difference!

Still and all, don't you have a soft spot in your heart, for your state/town/city ?

Aren't you proud of Bunker Hill, the museums, John Adams and others in his family, this history of your state?

I do not disagree. Rephrasing would have been more effective.

A lot of concern trolling by people who happen to be Trumpbots. I’ve been to NYC, loved almost every second of the time I was there; however, I know what Cruz was talking about and I don’t want someone with New York values as president.
