New York City is taking no guff from Sen. Ted Cruz.
At least that is the case for the New York Daily News, which used the front page of its Friday issue to slam the conservative Texas senator, who in turn blasted wealthy businessman and Republican front-runner Donald Trump over his so-called New York values.
The paper's cover delivers a graphic of the Statue of Liberty making an obscene gesture with one finger and this headline: "Drop Dead Ted." The cover, a riff on the paper's famous "Ford to City: Drop Dead" headline from 1975, came after Republican contenders locked horns in a debate in South Carolina Thursday night--likely the last debate before the Iowa caucuses kick off the nominating process on Feb. 1.
During one heated clash, Cruz tried to raise doubts about Trump's legitimacy as a Republican candidate. "I think most people know exactly what New York values are," Cruz said. "Everyone understands that the values in New York City are socially liberal."
In response, Daily News columnist Mike Lupica pointed to a man who gave the shirt off his back to another man in need on a Manhattan subway.
Here's Lupica's summation of his views:
The best of this city is the best of this country, and always has been. When it was hit in a way that no American city had ever been hit, it came together and rose up together in a moment as thrilling as any America had ever seen.
Trump offered his own sharp rebuttal during the debate: "We rebuilt downtown Manhattan and everybody in the world watched and everybody in the world loved New York and loved New Yorkers. And I have to tell you, that was a very insulting statement that Ted made."

New Yorkers are overwhelmingly liberal and that is what Cruz was talking about.

They just proved Cruz’ point.
Those are the 'NY Values' Cruz is addressing.
This is the Democrat way - claim victim-hood to justify everything you do.
Kind of ironic they don’t like Cruz saying that. Then they come out with that cover to their magazine, proving his point.
I live in Texas. Keep your NY values in NY we don’t want them here.
In fact Shelia Jackson Lee has NY values and we would be more than happy if you took her to NY where she belongs.

It has been no holds barred for Mr. Trump from Glenn Beck.

Just because we don’t have a visual doesn’t mean Beck’s own antics and unhinged put downs of Trump aren’t just as offensive

TED CRUZ is vindicated by New York’s response.
The New York Daily News has turned from a decent center-left newspaper into a left-wing progressive rag over the last few months.
They hired that loser BLM Shaun King a-hole and have become the gun-grabber’s newspaper of choice. They epitomize all that is wrong with New York and New York values that Cruz talks about.
They’ll hopefully go bankrupt sooner rather than later.
