Belief in the American Dream among millennials is dimming as the nation's largest generation continues to face steep socioeconomic barriers despite overall economic recovery, according to a new report.

Generation Opportunity, a nonprofit organization advocating limited government to spur opportunity for young Americans, reported Tuesday that for the first time in U.S. history, a younger generation may be left worse off than the one preceding it.

This is an enormous victory for the Democrats. People who don't believe in the American dream are less likely to fight ot defend our country. They are less likely to contribute to society. They are more likely to be susceptible to liberal propaganda attacking America. They are more likely to be sympathetic to those who want to destroy our way of life.

This is a victory for the Democrats. People who don't believe in the America and the American dream are more likely to become Democrats for life.

The study has a false premise, there is no overall economic recovery which is why there are no jobs for the millennials. Sad part is this is what millennials voted into office!

American blue collars can’t compete with China and America white collars can’t compete with India.

We are forced to compete with countries that aren’t held to the same labor and environmental standards.

Really? I think it shows why Trump & Sanders are doing so well. They are perceived to be game-changers.

If I'm right, the losers will be the political elites of both parties.

They need to be inspired by a true American leader. Ronald Reagan did it for me. I graduated HS and started college in 1977...the middle of the Carter disaster. We were still measuring the misery index on the Nightly News. Mortgage rates were in the 20's...i never expected to be able to buy a house and the unemployment rate was so high that I didn't know what I'd do when I graduated.

If you'd asked me in the late 70's or early 80's I would have told you that the American Dream was over. BUT it got better. The American people had the good sense to elect Ronald Reagan...thank GOD!

My son works for a company that tends to hire mostly young people because of the technological nature of the work. Unfortunately, lots of the Millenials aspiring to work there are not prepared or willing to really work and learn the skills needed to perform at a high level. The work ethic is just not there. Many believe that their so-called educational credentials entitle them to the job and that’s all they need. They never learned what it means to learn to work.

I think you’re right. Hope so, anyway.

I thought the American way of life was ending in 1979 during the Jimmah Carter malaise.

Then there was Ronald Reagan.....turnarounds are possible.

The dream isn’t dead, it just changed. Instead of dreaming of “working hard and being better off than their parents”, half of the kids dream of “not working and being taken care of by the government”.

One of the arguments for Obamacare was that it allows people to choose not to have a job. This is exactly the dream liberals have been pushing. Many kids can stay in bed all day and literally dream about what they get from the government while the rest are at a job.

I know a few kids like that (no job by their choice) but more of my kids’ friends (low-mid 20 year olds) are not like that so we aren’t doomed yet.

True, but the demographics and culture of the country have changed significantly since then. We are a much different country today. And, government has become pervasive and omnipresent. It controls nearly everything we do. Sadly, there are millions of insecure people who like it that way.

Turnarounds were possible, before immigrants started out-voting middle class Americans.

I agree. The Democrat Partys ""Long March Through The Institutions’’ has worked to destroy and enfeeble America just as the Communists Chinese did with their "Long March'' seventy years ago in China.

Nearly Half of Millennials Say the American Dream Is Dead. Here's Why.

Three words : 19 trillion$ debt.

Six additional words : Real earners outnumber the useless takers...

And finally, the most incompetent "government" that real (non-government) producers could imagine in their worst nightmare!

What's to look forward to?

Which is a bigger part of the problem, naturalized citizens voting heavily Democratic, or illegals being bused to the polling sites by Democrat operatives?

The American Dream is definitely not dead, but it is under siege by some extremely dangerous predators. This is what the Trump Phenomenon is all about. He has come to its defense, and his supporters think he can do it.
