The Donald buries the hatchet with Nikki Haley despite the South Carolina governor warning...

South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley didn't get a Donald Trump smackdown at tonight's debate, instead the Republican front runner said Haley hit the nail on the head when she talked about politicians being angry during her response to the State of the Union address.

'I'm very angry because our country is being run horribly,' Trump said. 'And I will gladly accept the mantle of anger.'

*snip*

n the Today Show the next morning, Haley confirmed that Trump was among those she was pointing fingers at.

'He was one of them, yes. He was one,' Haley told Matt Lauer.

Tonight, Trump fully embraced the anger and Haley.

'First of all, Nikki, this afternoon, said I'm a friend of hers, actually a close friend, and wherever you're sitting Nikki, I am a friend, we're friends, that's good,' Trump said.

Haley, as the governor of South Carolina, was invited to attend the Fox Business Network debate in North Charleston.

'But she did say there was anger and I could say, oh I'm not angry,' Trump said, before owning it.

'Our military is a disaster,' Trump stated. 'Our health care is a horror show, Obamacare, we're going to repeal it and replace it.'

'We have no borders. Our vets are being treated horribly. Illegal immgration is beyond belief,' he went on.

Where should the hatchet be buried?

Ping.

I must have been in the kitchen when this was covered in the debate.

Is there anything that Trump can't turn to his advantage?

I believe Trump played it right, let everyone know that Haley repeatedly asked him for money, and state exactly what he is angry about. Most people can really identify with what he is angry about.

Nice girl. Plus a minority. She'll go far in the Uniparty.

Most people can really identify with what he is angry about.

That's why Trump is running away with it...millions and millions of Americans share that anger!

Correct me if I am wrong..but I think Trump said NIKKI said that they we’re close friends..and then Trump shrugged it off and said we’re friends.

Trump played it the right way..Own up to the anger. That is what is getting him support anyway.

Trump's gonna drive a stake into the heart of the Uniparty. He just gave her an invitation to join the Trump Grand New Party.

Here is the quote:
TRUMP: Okay. First of all, Nikki this afternoon said I’m a friend of hers. Actually a close friend. And wherever you are sitting Nikki, I’m a friend. We’re friends. That’s good.

Trump very artfully stuck the hatchet under the rug

His action was typical, while sticking the sharp and dangerous comment under the rug he simultaneously removed the threat while not wounding the assailant

he thus declared her not germane to the debate and not involved in the fray

What the heck do folks expect him to say? For heavens sake the debate was in South Carolina and she (their governor) was in the audience. SC is third up on the primary schedule and Trump absolutely cannot survive without it.

This is a big concern. I have said I will vote for either Trump or Cruz - otherwise it stays blank. But if Trump betrays and puts Nikki Haley in for his VP to satisfy the GOPe, then I stay home.

Every time I encounter the phrase ‘bury the hatchet’, I think of Dorothy Parker’s quip, “Nobody forgets where they bury the hatchet.”

This is why Trump is so far ahead of the pack, he not only thinks many moves ahead of his adversaries, but he knows how to maneuver on the chess board and block an opposing piece (Queen) so it cannot threaten his piece (King).

That is why Trump’s upcoming victory in South Carolina remains pretty much set in concrete.

Trump handled this well, but I don’t think what Haley did redounds well to her in the long run. If she was supposed to be a friend to Trump, then she comes off as a mean-spirited backstabber, not some sort of “kindler, gentler voice” that she tried to pull off. And it shows her heretofore disguised GOPe affiliations and general lack of good judgment, which renders her politically ineffective. She comes out as the loser in all this, just like all the other azzholes who tried to discredit Trump.
