Tonightâs GOP debate was Ted Cruzâs night. He went right after Donald Trump multiple times, but in a way that came across as forceful and informed, but not nasty. He also fended off a pretty vigorous attack from Marco Rubio. His strongest points came early and against Trump, when the audience would be the largest.
Trump was runner-up. He had a good moment on Cruzâs slam on âNY Values,â but Iâm not sure how defending NY values plays outside NY. His performance will confirm pre-existing views of him.

I'll support that ticket for 16 years!
But, but, but, according to donnie.....................
I think that’s a good sign that people are noticing Ted.
He was already leading in Google searches before this debate.
We have hope.
It may be faint hope, but it is hope.
The more I hear Trump talk the more I can’t stand him. We finally have a chance to elect a conservative for president for the first time since Reagan and people are fawning over Trump. I just don’t get it. Trump did good tonight pandering and talking. Especially turning Cruz’s NY answer. Ted didn’t say anything bad about New Yorkers. He said there aren’t many conservatives that come from Manhattan. Donald did a good job of spinning it to sound like Ted attacked all New Yorkers.
Overall I felt Cruz, Trump and Rubio did best tonight.
I think DT was surprised at being booed several times. Cruz was really strong strong starting the debate.
Its keeping Trump at the top of the polls and get back to me next week when my predication that Trump continues to move up comes true.
“Trump will win with Cruz as VP”
I’ve been pounding that drum since July! But Cruz might want to be a Supreme Court justice instead. If we can find out what Obama had on Roberts to blackmail him into validating Obamacare, Cruz might even get to be Chief Justice...
A Cruz supporter would not be moved. But there are a whole bunch of people out there just starting to get interested...and are not committed to any candidate. I think Rubio likely won some of them over and damaged Cruz in their eyes.
Rubio shows himself adept at the quick shot, lumping so many things together as it's impossible to refute it all in 1.5mins.
Trump was furious when Cruz made the remark, “The constitution hasn’t changed, but poll numbers have.”
I thought Trump’s head would explode.
He knows darn well he’s ahead in the polls so that should not have rattled him so much, but he just can’t stand anyone gaining on him.
The most principled, the smartest, the best debater. The best ground game. Raised the most money.
Winner.
Okay, if I can remember for a week.
I like LR. Great cartoonist there. They cover legal stuff, college liberalization, politics.
I’m a native New Yorker. No, Cruz didn’t insult anyone, and despite Dona;d’s histrionics, he knows it.
Nope. Trump has a decent shot at New York. The election is going to end early Tuesday evening when NY turns red and the talking heads go crazy. It will be glorious!
Remember, this will be a carpetbagger vs. a native son.
In all fairness, though, I totally agreed with Ted on this.
We need to be sure Rubio doesn’t get the nomination.
I think Fox business had instructions to give Rubio free reign. It was despicable how they let Rubio rant for 5 minutes and didn’t give Cruz time to reply.
Ben Carson is a good man with a great life story, and that’s impressive.
That doesn’t make him a great presidential candidate. But I wouldn’t mind if he’s in the Cabinet.
Better yet, come back to Maryland and try to flip Barbie Mikulski’s open seat.
Right Scoop 6th debate poll says.. Trump won.
Donald Trump 66.41% (7,937 votes)
Ted Cruz 20.1% (2,402 votes)
Marco Rubio 6.33% (756 votes)
Ben Carson 2.15% (257 votes)
Chris Christie 1.79% (214 votes)
John Kasich 1.67% (200 votes)
Jeb Bush 1.55% (185 votes)
Total Votes: 11,951
Online polls are worthless. If they meant anything, President Ron Paul would be finishing up his second term about now.
The Trump people stuff those polls.
Luntz’s focus group almost unanimously had Cruz winning.
Instant online polls mean nothing.
