Peter King to Ted Cruz: 'Go back under a rock' [Responding to Cruz's "New York Values" remark]

New York Rep. Peter King had some sharp words for Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz on Thursday, in the wake of the Texas senator's attempt to criticize Donald Trump.

Cruz, who had been playing nice with Trump for much of the campaign, recently attempted to disparage the real estate mogul by accusing him of possessing "New York values." The attack came after Trump raised questions over the Canadian-born Cruz's ability to serve as president.

Trump "may shift in his new rallies to playing 'New York New York,' because you know Donald comes from New York and he embodies New York values," Cruz said Tuesday on "The Howie Carr Show" on Boston-based WRKO.

King, a Republican, had a pointed response for Cruz.

"Memo to Ted Cruz: New York Values are the heroes of 9/11; the cops who fight terror; and the people you ask for campaign donations. Go back under a rock," King said in a statement to CNN Thursday.

Trump has also cited 9/11 as an example of why "New York values" are something to be proud of, rather than a turn-off for voters.

"New York is an amazing place with amazing people," Trump said on Bloomberg's "With All Due Respect." "We took a big hit with the World Trade Center -- worst thing ever, worst attack ever in the United States, worse than Pearl Harbor because they attacked civilians, they attacked people having breakfast and frankly if you would've been there and if you would've lived through that like I did with New York people -- the way they handled that attack was one of the most incredible things that anybody has ever seen."

Cruz was educated at Princeton and Harvard. Guess he didn't have trouble with those not a country boy attitudes when he was getting his education.

I don't like agreeing with Peter King. But, mygosh he makes a point. Look at the way NYC handled 911 and Boston handled the Marathon bombing. Best not to mess wit those areas. They fight back and get stronger when they're attacked.

And that goofy mayor?

And that crazy governor?

Yep, NY does have some different values. At least politically.

Yeah, let's not pick a highly-educated, successful, self-made man for the presidency, let's elect a real estate heir who had the way paved for him. That'll show 'em.

No, they go back to sleep afterwards. You think electing someone like De Blasio is good for NYC security, seriously?

I love my Michigan but I’ll choose a Texas conservative over a NY liberal every single time.

“New York Values” elected the two corrupt leaders of the NY Legislature, BOTH INDICTED.

Sheldon Silver — Speaker of the House Assembly

Dean Skelos -— Leader of the Senate.

One Democrat, one Republican.

“New York Values” elected the disgraced governor Elliott Spitzer.

New York values elected Andrew Cuomo governor, who is under investigation for suddenly yanking the Moreland Commission tasked with investigating government corruption.

Should I go on?

Yet, Peter King chose to attack a strawman, insinuating that Ted Cruz is attacking 9/11 first responders. What he is attacking are THOSE ABOVE “New York Values” the Peter King neglects to mention.

You do know if Trump doesn’t get elected he already has himself a new reality TV show.

They are going to call it “Can you string a sentence together better than a 4th grader”.

The problem happens when Cruz sets up a narrative that doesn’t fit the actual events of his life. When he does that, it makes us wonder about his reasons for supporting the first TAP bill, not too long ago wanting H1B Visas increased by a multiple, says this in backroom discussions to deep-pocket donors that are skewed a bit differtly than what he says to us. etc

And voting for those from Texas for example has brought us the epic colossal disasters called LBJ, and two Bushes.

I’ll take my chances voting for someone outside of Texas this time thanks.
