Much too bad, too, because I believe Gentle Ben had a LOT to bring to the American Dialogue, as a representation of the true worth of what it meant to be a person of African heritage growing up in the United States, and to accept and make the American ideals his own.
If nothing else, this should have put to rest the notion that only the Democrats “have an understanding” of the great underclass created by LBJ’s Great Society programs of the 1960’s pandering to the lowest common denominator among Americans of African descent. It should, but of course, the very people most affected will see it as all perverse and backwards.
