Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump on Wednesday needled President Obama over Iran's seizure of U.S. Navy boats, comparing the recent events to the Iran hostage crisis during Jimmy Carter's presidency.
"This is Jimmy Carter stuff," Trump said at a rally in Pensacola, Fla.
"We are now back in the age of Jimmy Carter."
More than 60 Americans were held hostage in Iran late in Carter's administration. Hours before President Obama's final State of the Union address Tuesday, Iran seized two U.S. Navy vessels and 10 American soldiers.
On Wednesday, Iran freed the U.S. sailors and Secretary of State John Kerry hailed their release as "resolved peacefully and efficiently."
On the same day, a video was released on Iranian state television showing an American sailor apologizing, calling it a "mistake."
Trump knocked Kerry's response to the seizure: "We have grossly incompetent leadership and we're going to end it," he said.
I’m a Cruz voter as opposed to a Trumper (but I’ll vote for him if it comes to that). I agree, the kenyan’s latest adventure reeks of 1979. However, that COULD be good news, as 1979 led to Reagan.
The age of Carter was a freakin' Rennaissance compared to Zero's America.
More like George III.
We may have to recaption the “SOCIALISM” text with “FEEL THE BERN” come fall.
