Longtime readers know that I am not exactly the strongest supporter of Donald Trump. As a big employer of illegal aliens and a five-time party switcher, his commitment lends itself to some doubts. But that is no excuse to criticize him in a forum meant to represent the Republican Party response to the Democratic Party. That is, however, just what South Carolina governor Nikki Haley did.
According to her prepared remarks, Haley said:
During anxious times, it can be tempting to follow the siren call of the angriest voices," she will say, suggesting that Trump is an irrational, angry person who dislikes foreigners.
"We must resist that temptation. No one who is willing to work hard, abide by our laws, and love our traditions should ever feel unwelcome in this country," says the speech.
This is code for welcoming illegal aliens. This is how liberals talk: they claim that illegals haven't broken any laws if they haven't broken any additional laws besides entering the country illegally. Nikki, they aren't abiding by our laws if they came here legally. And they certainly aren't abiding by our traditions if they don't learn English. And we don't dislike "foreigners"; we dislike "foreigners" who are here illegally, a distinction that eludes liberals, and apparently Nikki Haley.
She also added a caveat after her comments about welcoming immigrants, saying "at the same time, that does not mean we just flat out open our borders."
"We cannot continue to allow immigrants to come here illegally, and in this age of terrorism, we must not let in refugees whose intentions cannot be determined," she said. "That means stopping illegal immigration. And it means welcoming properly vetted legal immigrants, regardless of their race or religion."

The GOP is like someone running books fixing a fight and paying a fighter to take a dive. Lot's of money to be made in high places "Fixing" elections and making sure the right Bills get passed. A few dozen in the GOP are still honest in Congress. Their efforts are destroyed by the Majority Leadership.
No wonder she's not only the favorite of the GOP establishment, but every liberal's favorite Republican.
She should just go ahead admit that the democraps are right about the Republican. (sarcasm)
Not making a big deal about anything.
I would never Vote for Rubio anyway. Just pointing out how this little episode is stuck to him like white on rice.
Don’t really care about Mr. Amnesty who I understand isn’t even qualified to become President because neither of his Parent’s were U.S. Citizens at the time of his Birth.
We are Political Animals here, so we have a different take. Like I said, the FR Bubble.
No need to continue this conversation. You believe what you believe and I’ll start eating my Breakfast Burrito.
Have to get ready for work. Have a nice day.
They don’t care about the base or the country. It is time that Cruz and Trump start stating the establishment does not care about the people or the country. They are sellouts padding the wallets, out for themselves and start naming names.
Bobby Jindal blew his POTUS chances a few years ago by giving a yawner of a SOTU respone speech.
Yes. He was the rising star.
He was awful.
RE: Just pointing out how this little episode is stuck to him like white on rice.
That’s the point — IT HAS NOT STUCK TO HIM.
I’ve seen speakers at a podium drink water in the middle of their speeches more than once. Here are but a few — Rudy Giuliani, Clarence Thomas, John Bolton.
Nobody in FR remembered or even referred to it until Rubio became the gang of eight leader on immigration.
Then suddenly, as if to find an excuse to ridicule him, it became a “big deal” again.
Nope, it ain’t a big deal and shouldn’t be. If you want to criticize him, do so LEGITIMATELY, otherwise this would prove that you prefer style over susbstance.
On my way out the door but I had to check FR one more time.
Like I said, Rubio doesn’t even meet the qualifications to attain the Office of POTUS, just like Jindal didn’t, so this whole thing is just an exercise in futility.
Let’s just agree to disagree. No sense wasting our time.
Which reminds me, I need to get a Bottle of Water out of the Fridge on my way out. LOL
Have a good day my FRiend and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Another Democrat in an R jersey, working for The Cheap Labor Express.
If we want to keep the rule of law and our country, all of these fake conservatives must be politically purged from the GOP or we must abandon the GOP and start a new party that represents the citizens.
Right now, no one represents us, the Democrats represent the illegal aliens.
The GOP represents their employers.
Have a good drink my friend :)
We all need it. and making a big deal out of it is really much ado about nothing.
The GOPe wing of the DC Uni-Party laid down their marker, last night.
I think we should revert to a non-muslim-including version of the pre-1965 immigration law, even though that would mean welcoming fewer Indians into the country. Sorry, Nikki.
