I heard on some news program they had only machine guns. That was all the report said.

At the same time, Secretary of State John Kerry issued a proclamation of gratitude to the Iranians, also emphasizing the distress in which they found themselves: Bullshit only works when it's remotely credible. When, as now, it isn't- it's just an outrage and an insult to the intelligence.

"I want to express my gratitude to Iranian authorities for their cooperation in swiftly resolving this matter," Kerry said in a short statement. Did Kerry really use the term "swiftly"? As in, our sailors got "swiftboated" by the Iranians?

I wouldn’t be surprised if Obama had them deliberately misdirected so he could relish the humiliation.

Let's assume that the two Navy craft really did drift into Iranian waters. Then the US owes Iran an apology. We would expect the same if the situation were reversed.
An that apology should have been be delivered promptly, along with a statement that we are retrieving our craft, and Iran, do not interfere with our recovery operation.

It's clear that some limp-willied Admiral ordered them to surrender to avoid a fight and thereby mess up Obama's nuke deal. I agree these sailors would have fought (and likely have fended off) the Iranians if given the go-ahead from their command.

And they made a female sailor wear a headscarf...ugh!

The Iranians seize on the opportunity to humiliate America by releasing these images.
They know exactly what they are doing and know exactly that America is weak and apologetic.
It appears the armed US Navy was overrun by a few Boston Whalers.

With modern GPS systems it is hard to believe those ships strayed into Iranian waters

Anybody recall who was President the last time there were humiliating pics from Iran on American captives?
To: HamiltonJay
A call to get out of their waters would do. They purposely arrested them and released the photos to humiliate us.

Likely a very high tech new weapon system that was placed in the boats before turning them over to Iran.

Precisely, and it seems a bit unlikely that two boats both failed simultaneously, and nobody sent out some air support, or another boat.
In fact the CB90 has dual engines, so in order for both boats to be disabled 4 engines had to fail simultaneously. The suggestion that both boats ran out of fuel seems improbable. If it did happen it shows a level of incompetence hard to imagine.
Both boats should have been easily able to defend themselves if necessary. Hard to imagine that some guys with AK-47s in a fiberglass fishing boat would want to attack two boats each of which has mounted M240 machine guns, and possibly mounted 50 caliber machine guns.

Did our Commander in Chief immediately contact Iran and explain to them the sailors would be released post haste or a Tomahawk missile would be taking out one of their nuke producing plants? If not why not?My first thought word for word.

Was this an unarmed naval ship? No, but whether or not they had ammunition is another question. Multiple M240s are visible in the photos posted on Zero Hedge.

Go to the link for photos and two videos. The two armed vessels are/were ours.
The bass boats with Bimini tops are the Iranians and they seem to have just small arms, unless there was a larger Iranian vessel not pictured, it makes no sense.
