You mean like how the Democrats haven’t been electing narcissists to the Presidency since 1912 ?

No man runs for president without the strong conviction that he is the best man for the job.

They are all narcissists. It’s a necessary part of their resume.

Who knew?

What do we want, a second guessing milk toast?

Let’s get on to the really important issues like, does he pee standing up or sitting down.

I’m sure that will be covered soon.

Obama said the oceans would be healed and “he’s the One.”
Nobel prize for giving speeches.

Trump is nowhere close to Obama in the big ego category.

from the article:

“As politics becomes more of a public performance, it draws people higher in narcissism,” Twenge said. “So we will end up with more politicians who are charismatic and confident and who we like in the short term, but more who disappoint us in the long run.”

This is article is right on the MONEY.

Obama is a classic narcissist. the dangerous type. He’s NEVER really accomplished anything except fooling American voters (not so hard these days) and yet he thinks he is a GREAT president.

He can NEVER take blame for anything “i didnt draw a red line, the world did”.

he refers to himself so many times in speeches, one loses count.

and he will play golf while soldiers are dying or a crisis is going on, and he will not feel the least tinge of regret.

TRUMP. He is very sure of his capabilities. His children are all doing well. TRUE narcissists usually Destroy their families.

HE HAS accomplishments. Many.

I’ve known many people who have been handed MILLIONS of dollars to go make more and in a year they are broke. So that argument against him is moot.

Does he have a HUGE ego? yes.

Do I think he’s a little immature and a little too sensitive at times? yes.

Do I think he would make a very good president in our current situation. YES!

Cruz was/is my guy but that comment about bill’s rapes not being an issue bothers me.

either way, it looks like a lock for Trump.

we will see how much of what he’s said the past year he meant, and how conservative he really is.

I understand those who don’t like him being very concerned that once in office, he will be another FDR.

His father was conservative, his kids seem conservative, he is a good dad and granddad. we shall see,

Hell’s bells. Obama was going to make the oceans stop rising and then recede. How’d that work out, world?

Why not give Trump a chance? At least he builds things that work.

I disagree with the article. Trump's personality doesn't reflect our society ....he is however a narcissist..which isn't a bad thing if they acquire the skills needed to offset their fragile ego's. Trump is definitely oversensitive and why he hits back rapidly....it's to protect his fragile ego. People generally see that as strength when in fact it's simply a means of protecting himself.."emotionally"...Significant is most narcissists do "feel" well beyond the norm...just goes with the territory of that type of personality.

His tactic to cover is to talk more and create word salads as a diversion from what he's "feeling", these word salads will continue, often flipping over each other, until he's more comfortable with the swinging emotions he's busy controlling within himself....... If you really watch him you can easily see this.

Yet, his ex wives and those who work with/for him seem to genuinely like him and not fear him.....

Show me someone who wants to be president and I'll show you someone with an ego - even Reagan (but he was probably the most modest we ever had and will ever have again).

Do something useful...

Now for a short public service announcement to all on FR:
We need to ensure we don't get another Obama-like America Hater as the next President.
The best way to ensure that is to actively support a candidate (even if he's "rich enough to do it on his own") as the next President.
I donate to the candidate I support and you should too, else, your "support" really doesn't have any meaning.

It's even worse if you use FR and don't donate. If you are one of those who feel it's OK to use FR daily w/o helping pay to keep the lights on, then please don't complain about the welfare leeches because, functionally, you are no different than any other who enjoys the fruits of others' work for your own benefit. Also, don't be surprised if others decide that your opinions are as worthless as your non-donations - hypocrites aren't worth listening to.

PS - If you are one of those unlucky few who cannot afford even a small donation to FR or a candidate, God Bless and happy FReeping!.....

Donate to FR

It makes sense that the people drawn to politics would be supremely self-confident and able to brush off the criticism sure to come their way. But the 2013 study showed something else: Presidents have been getting more narcissistic over time. And in that sense, Trump may just be the logical conclusion of an ongoing trend.

Or, it may be that the number of talking heads who lie on psychiatrist's couches and reject the Nature and Nature's God on which our system was based has increased, and they are merely imitating their guru's language of finding fault with everyone that only experts can fix, while rejecting the Great Physician who actually knows all our hearts, minds, bodies and souls.

Or, it may be that Marxism has so penetrated the talking head class that anyone who actually does believe in excellence and has lived it is automatically suspect, because, according to them, we are all the same person and that person is the lowest common denominator.

If this author knew Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Franklin or Madison, she would probably find realms of psychological dysfunction upon which to cluck self-righteously. Doesn't make her opinion worthy.
