Trump Has Started Playing 'Born In The USA' At Rallies To Taunt Cruz
Talking Points ^

Posted on 01/12/2016 7:16:32 PM PST by TigerClaws

Now that he has raised questions about Sen. Ted Cruz's (R-TX) Canadian birth and American citizenship, Donald Trump has started playing Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the USA" before campaign rallies, according to reports in The Weekly Standard and the Texas Tribune.

The introduction of the song may be an attempt by the real estate mogul to troll Cruz as many openly wonder whether he is eligible to run for president.

Cruz was born in Canada, but his mother was an American citizen, earning Cruz citizenship in the United States at birth. The Texas senator has repeatedly said that he is eligible to run for president.

our soldiers didn’t deserve the condemnation they were receiving back here for going to fight.

Agreed. At the same time, it was LBJ's fault that he got those boys killed.

Yes, Reagan did play it. Apparently without ever listening to the hilariously downbeat lyrics!

Good to know I've got that in common with the great man. I never listened to the lyrics either, but just loved the chorus.

some initial impressions:

place was packed. it was in a gymnasium on the campus of University of NOrthern Iowa.

Security was heavy..including Secret Service.

crowd was pretty diverse...lots of young people....young 20 somethings...the age of my kids. I was glad to see so many young folks engaged in the process, and not drinking the bernie/hilary potions.

crowd was pretty enthusiastic, but not really as rowdy as some rallys I have attended in the past...Bush2 in 2004, for example.

trump spoke for about an hour...a bit less. he hit on alot of topics, but all cursory...no real substance/policy statements. per se.

for the most part, the crowd was quiet and hung on his every word. It was interesting to watch.

there were some protesters out front of the venue when we arrived...bunch of brain dead college students everyone in line was heckling THEM. it was kinda funny.

anyway....it was certainly an interesting evening.

Sean Hannity plays that lame independence day song every day

Not anymore. He now plays a clip from a song by the band, Florida Georgia Line. Been doing it for a long time, now.

holds rallies to discredit Cruz

Don't flatter yourself or Cruz, Trump holds rallies for the 10s of thousands in small towns that want to see what a real American President looks like. No pun intended, well, maybe a little.

Nobody ever gave LBJ crap for bringing America into the war.

Actually, it was his predecessor, Kennedy, who started it. LBJ simply carried on, then escalated that conflict.

When I was an Army brat in the early 60s, my dad was already training for that mission. He got his first orders to deploy there in 1964.

“Courtesy Of The Red, White, And Blue (The Angry American)”

American Girls and American Guys
We’ll always stand up and salute
We’ll always recognize
When we see Old Glory Flying
There’s a lot of men dead
So we can sleep in peace at night
When we lay down our head

My daddy served in the army
Where he lost his right eye
But he flew a flag out in our yard
Until the day that he died
He wanted my mother, my brother, my sister and me
To grow up and live happy
In the land of the free.

Now this nation that I love
Has fallen under attack
A mighty sucker punch came flyin’ in
From somewhere in the back
Soon as we could see clearly
Through our big black eye
Man, we lit up your world
Like the 4th of July

Hey Uncle Sam
Put your name at the top of his list
And the Statue of Liberty
Started shakin’ her fist
And the eagle will fly
Man, it’s gonna be hell
When you hear Mother Freedom
Start ringin’ her bell
And it feels like the whole wide world is raining down on you
Brought to you Courtesy of the Red White and Blue

Justice will be served
And the battle will rage
This big dog will fight
When you rattle his cage
And you’ll be sorry that you messed with
The U.S. of A.
`Cause we`ll put a boot in your ass
It`s the American way

Hey Uncle Sam
Put your name at the top of his list
And the Statue of Liberty
Started shakin’ her fist
And the eagle will fly
Man, it’s gonna be hell
When you hear Mother Freedom
Start ringin’ her bell
And it feels like the whole wide world is raining down on you
Brought to you Courtesy of the Red White and Blue

Does he have Springsteen’s permission. He wrote it has the copyright on it. So Trump must seek permission to use it.

Again, it’s a stupid choice. The song has nothing to do with being born in the US. It is about criticizing the Vietnam War years after it ended. It’s not a patriotic song.

And how many low information voters do you think realize that, or give a crap either way?

They know it's called "Born in the U.S.A.". They know it's a dig at Cruz. It's on the same level as his tweeting a picture of Bush picking his nose. I'm a Cruz supporter and I think it's funny. I think it's brilliant campaigning that plays right to Trump's base, who seem to love him precisely because of his juvenile, smack-talking style.

I do think the HIGHLY over rated, ignorant, talentless, lefty, Springsteen is going to whine and squeal about Trump using his song, though.

As I said, I don’t know all that much. Still, neither of them received flak for dragging America into it. At least, nothing compared to the amount of flak our soldiers got for fighting it.
