Mom Becca Edwards is "pissed" about a racist remark that her state's governor made, and she's calling him out on it, offering her own biracial family as an example of how very wrong he is.
Maine Gov. Paul LePage issued his offensive comment at a town hall meeting in Bridgton on Jan. 6 while speaking about the influx of heroin in the Pine Tree State. "These are guys with the name D-Money, Smoothie, Shifty -- these types of guys -- they come from Connecticut and New York, they come up here, they sell their heroin, they go back home," the Republican blasted.
"Incidentally, half the time they impregnate a young white girl before they leave, which is a real sad thing because then we have another issue we have to deal with down the road."
Though the crowd at the town meeting didn't immediately react, social media's response was swift -- and seething. The Portland Press Herald reports that Marlon Marshall, Hillary Clinton's director of state campaigns and political engagement, issued a statement calling LePage's comments "racist rants," while Maine Democratic Party Chairman Phil Bartlett dubbed them "outrageous" and Michael Tyler, the Democratic National Committee's director of African-American media, declared them "disgusting."
But in Edwards's now-viral Facebook response, the self-described "white girl in Maine," took it one step further and called for LePage's ouster. "Last week the governor in Maine, my state, suggested to the world that if one were to see me (the white girl) and my daughter (the biracial girl) walking down the street, that she is a product of my involvement with a drug dealer from out of state. And even worse, that she wasn't wanted," wrote the mother in her Jan. 9 post, which has been shared more than 216,000 times in just two days.

Some people - when they’ve lost the argument - hurl insults.
And then there’s you. Hurling Bible verses.
Nice Touch.
(But you still lost the argument.)
“Blessed is me, when men shall revile me, and persecute me and shall say all manner of evil against me falsely, for My sake.” (Matthew 5:11)
The governor obviously is not well acquainted with the millennium he lives in.
“Don’t answer the foolish arguments of fools, or you will become as foolish as they are.” (Proverbs 26:4)
Disruptor Troll
Fully operational.
“Don’t answer the foolish arguments of fools, or you will become as foolish as they are.” (Proverbs 26:4)
Yea I saw that and stayed out of it, but then saw this and saw how the Bible verses were just thrown out too in this thread.
They’re all white so can;t be beautiful to a liberal who looks to troll this site getting her highs because there are no pals for her.
You’re using scripture to excuse a group of people who have an 80% out of wedlock birth rate and criticize those of us brazen enough to point out the obvious
That’s pretty rich
They actually marry?
(P.S. It is customary at FR to append "[barf alert]" to the title of liberal propaganda.)
Sorry to hear that sir, as a person of a certain background I detest the ghetto culture and the hell it brought, half the reason why I thank god I was born to hardworking parents one of whom served in the Navy for 20 years, kept our family from it.
When I lived in big cities, I can’t tell you how much I saw what he talked about. I didn’t understand it then and I don’t understand it now. He obviously wasn’t talking about her so I don’t get why she’s so offended. Unless she’s being paid to write about being offended..
For me culture and where I grew up all my life, as I said before on FR many times I detest ghetto culture and what it is, I like sci-fi, shooting weapons, the outdoors to an extent and also though I do not like to generalize the vast majority of black women are leftists and progressives, not really my type to be around let alone marry.
I always enjoy seeing your posts here. I think quoting the Bible too, is top class. I know some people can often bring out quotations right on the mark and that is a talent. I myself can’t though I’ve read the Bible and would probably do okay if tested on it.
God bless both our daddies
Proverbs 11:22
Same here, they amuse me and remind me that there are fake
wankers that use scripture and political correctness in order
to troll FR with a bunch of mindless meaningless garbage.
Also, if I read those posts in the morning, they help me to drop the Obamas off at the pool.
If you lived in any city in Maine, you’d know the Governor speaks the truth.
