Iowa GOP top line.

Cruz 28, Trump 24, Rubio 13, Carson 11, Bush 4, Paul 5, Christie 3, Huckabee 2, Fiorina 3, Kasich 2, Santorum 0.

If we flash back to the FoxNews poll we have

Cruz 27, Trump 23, Rubio 15, Carson 9, Bush 7, Huckabee 2, Paul 5, Christie 4, Fiorina 1, Kasich 1, Santorum 1.

Back just before Christmas, Gravis also did an Iowa poll, Gravis, as you know, was the gold standard for Iowa polling in 2014.

Cruz 31, Trump 31, Rubio 9, Carson 7, Bush 4, Huckabee 4, Paul 1, Christie 2, Fiorina 3, Kasich 2, Santorum 0.

Based on the trend, barring an unforeseen catastrophe, Ted Cruz is going to win the Iowa caucuses. I would imagine his spread will be more than 4 points over Trump just based on the electorate each is appealing to...

New Hampshire GOP top line.

Trump 30, Rubio 14, Cruz 10, Bush 9, Christie 12, Kasich 9, Paul 5, Carson 4, Fiorina 3, Santorum 0, Huckabee 0

Compare and contrast to FoxNews

Trump 33, Rubio 15, Cruz 12, Christie 5, Kasich 7, Bush 9, Carson 4, Fiorina 3, Paul 5, Huckabee 0, Santorum 0.

and PPP

Trump 29, Rubio 15, Cruz 10, Christie 11, Kasich 11, Bush 10, Carson 4, Fiorina 4, Paul 3, Huckabee 1, Santorum 1.

Iowa within the margin of error(?).

Looks like no one is coming out of there with a blowout.

NH is Trump’s.

But Sanders is leading in both?! Awesome!

I agree. Feel the Bern! The media and even their own party is doing heavy lifting for the other candidate.

Question for the Experts (That’s about 90% of Freepers):

Assume Cruz wins Iowa by 5 points over Trump.
Assume the polls on Feb 1 for New Hampshire are Trump-Rubio-Cruz

Will Cruz beat Rubio on Feb 9 in New Hampshire?
Will Cruz beat Trump on Feb 9 in New Hampshire?

I’b betting there is historical data that will work to the advantage of Cruz if he is a clear Iowa winner.

RE:”Cruz leading in IA. Trump enjoys yuuuge lead in liberal NH.”

The best Republicans are in states like NH and MA.

Recall that Romney was a Senator for MA.

He fixed health care there.

This is a wonderfully strange election cycle, all the way around. I’m glad I’m getting to experience it first-hand.

The poll that came today that was a tie
Trump beat Cruz 34-19 in the 18-30 YO group.
Cruz beat Trump in all others except one down by 2.
Question is, how many 18-30 polled and how many will caucus.

95% of those can't be extracted from their electronic devices, much less caucus.

Should get a bump. To me, the importance is that he will appear on the radar screen for the first time for the 23% of Republicans who don't know him yet.

Yea, they certainly picked a winner with Buchanan in 96.

In that same NBC poll we have this nugget: “Yet among the larger universe of potential Iowa caucus-goers, Trump actually leads Cruz by two points, 26 percent to 24 percent, suggesting that a larger turnout could benefit Trump in the state”.

The real news here may be that both Cruz and Rubio beat Shillery, whereas Trump does not.
