The Republican establishment, which has always distrusted and discounted Donald Trump, is getting increasingly nervous.
So nervous, in fact, that some of its media voices are starting to denounce their partyâs front-runner in the strongest possible terms.
As in, refusing to vote for the man if heâs the nominee. As in, loudly proclaiming that he will destroy the GOP.
Viewed from one perspective, this has the smell of panic. Viewed from another, itâs a case of party stalwarts speaking out based on principle.

Trump will definitely destroy the current GOP leadership.
and Hillary will destroy the Dems.
Both existing political parties being destroyed would certainly not be the worst thing that could happen.
YES!!! That’s what we want!!!!
If doing what the voters want destroys the GOP then the GOP needed destroying.
>> As in, loudly proclaiming that [Trump] will destroy the GOP.
They say that like it’s a BAD thing. :-)
I hope so.
To defeat the democRATs, we must first defeat the republicans.
It’s the people’s turn, the elites can go to hell.
What conservative elite?
The elite is not conservative.
Conservative elite, sounding a bit panicked, says Trump will destroy GOP

So, who’s panicking??
As a conservative elite - I’m enjoying the ride.
Go Donald!
No, Trump’s late to the party. As you mentioned, the neocons and GOPe have already destroyed the party and the outsider phenomenon is entirely of their making.
I love the smell of burning napalm in the morning.
What "principle" demands one to sign a pledge to support the party's nominee that nobody else feels obligated to follow in return?

I hope the GOPe elite get no sleep until the election : )
The last time an Establishment group was this disconnected from reality their heads got disconnected from their torsos.
GOP’s been dead to me for years.
If anything, Trump has a decent chance of reinvigorating the party for the first time in decades. Assuming they don’t snatch defeat from the jaws of victory - something they’ve raised to an art form.
They say that like it's a bad thang.................
McConnell, Boehner, Lying Ryan, Kristol, Will, Krauthiemer, Kasich, Rove, iYeb?
Stalwarts? Bwahahahahahahahahahahaha
Principles? Name one, other than sticking it to the Base? Surely you Jest.
