I saw the Ziggy tour in 72/73 in Memphis at Ellis
Mick Ronson was perfect
I went to a lot of concerts in the ‘70s but never made it
to a Bowie concert. Would have been great.
Ronson was a great guitarist who died pretty young himself. Early 90s iirc.
But David pretty much blew them away with one of the best guys ever - Adrian Belew. Man, that guy can play all day and you never get tired of it!
What a great place to have seen Bowie. That place hosted lots of greats, everyone from John Philip Sousa to Rachmaninoff to Elvis to Ray Charles to BB King to Dylan to David Bowie. But perhaps the most interesting thing to me about Ellis was that before it actually opened, it hosted the United Confederate Veterans convention. They were given metal badges that had General Forrest on them. Last year the racist liberal idiots running Memphis decided the General’s statue has to go.
