Never cared much for his music. Some was ok but not my favorite. He always seem to have a weak voice.

Well, maybe I’m weird but I loved most of his music but hated those movies he was in, especially TMWFTE - not one redeeming character in the lot in that one.

But “Diamond Dogs”, “Changes”, “Major Tone”, and so on? Hey man, now leave me alone yes.

Low is one of my all-time favorit albums.

One of my favorite Bowie / Fripp collaborations: Up the Hill Backwards With Gurdieff-inspired lyrics.

He was a musical genius. He was also a very decent actor.

Hit man David Bowie threatens Jeff Goldblum in the John Landis film "Into the Night" (1985):

It’s been confirmed that Blackstar was released as a farewell gift to his fans.

I definitely relistened to the songs and appreciated the meaning behind them a lot more. It went from being good music to a bittersweet goodbye.

RIP

I heard Ashley Olsen died too, but not the famous twin, just a chick with the same name who also kinda looks like her. RIP.

Can honesty say I cannot recall ever even listening all the way through to any David Bowie song—

Could not even name one off the top of my head.

But the reaction in the liberal entertainment news sources makes it sound like Elvis died again.

I had assumed from some of the statements he made that he was an atheist, and certainly had attacked organized religion, but from what his wife wrote, it seems in his final days he did at least acknowledge there was a God.

Iman is Muslim, so it's also quite possible she is speaking/writing from her own perspective.

Wrong band.

I know that -- it was a lame ineffectual play on words, going from "Let's Dance" to the answer to it. Hope he is with the Lord of the Dance right now.

I don’t mean to speak ill of the dead but I never cared for Bowie. Wish I could have slapped Bing for singing a duet with this androgynous pervert.

Bowie was not my cup of tea personally, but best in small bites now and then. His stuff lent itself well to commercials and soundtracks.

Cat People - one of those songs that I liked a lot, but when it was featured in the movie Inglorious Basterds, it was reignited for me, if you will, as it were.

Exactly. That was a great example of fitting well, and probably Tarantino's true talent ( aside from directing ) an uncanny ear for music selection for his movies ( a talent which far exceeds his acting and public relation skills ;-)

I like “Space Oddity” (his biggest hit I think) and maybe a couple others.

I found this clip from The Tonight Show (Johnny Carson) which aired in 1980. Perhaps it would be of interest to some:

I’m surprised that no one has mentioned his playing Pontius Pilate in ‘The Last Temptation of Christ’
