White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough on Sunday vowed that President Obama will close the Guantanamo Bay detainee facility before his presidency ends in 11 months.
"He feels an obligation to his successor to close that, and that's why we're going to do it," McDonough said on "Fox News Sunday." "Sure we are."
However, McDonough declined to answer whether Obama would use his White House powers to sidestep Congress and close the facility.
"The president just said he's going to present a plan to Congress and work with Congress and then we'll make some final determination," McDonough said.
Obama has promised since the start of his presidency seven years ago that he would close the facility -- opened in the aftermath of 9/11 to get suspected terrorists off the battlefield.

Congress should stop this and if needed tie it up in the courts until after Obama leaves office.

An Obligation to Donald Trump? In other words he intends to
trash the house before he’s evicted. It’s what people like him
do. I know, I’ve plenty of experience repairing damage
after their subsidized housing ends. Never ever rent to
an Obama or any of his supporters on subsidized housing,
they always trash the joint.

Need to conserve their energy for fighting Trump and Cruz.

When he talked about the crusades, he described it from the muslim perspective. Clinton’s framed the crusades from the same perspective.

Closing the Prison and closing the base are two distinctly different issues he has no power to do either because closing facilities costs money which would have to approved by Congress so sorry Bozo no go on your dream you will not cause more harm to America by closing that facility..
The article mentions that Congress will be consulted....which means he'll have his way.
