Republican primary front-runner Donald Trump says North Korean communist dictator Kim Jong-un deserves "credit" for the cutthroat efficiency with which he disposes of his political foes.
"If you look at North Korea, this guy, he's like a maniac, OK?" Trump said at a rally in Ottumwa, Iowa, on Saturday.
"And you've got to give him credit: How many young guys - he was like 26 or 25 when his father died - take over these tough generals and all of a sudden, you know, it's pretty amazing when you think of it. How does he do that?" he added.
âEven though it is a culture, and itâs a culture thing, he goes in, he takes over, he's the boss. It's incredible."
After North Korea's government said it successfully tested a hydrogen bomb earlier this week, Trump called the authoritarian leader a "madman playing around with nukes" and a "total nut job."
But he also insinuated that Kim had some admirable qualities.
"I mean, it's amazing that a young guy would go over and take over," Trump said Thursday on Fox News' "On the Record." "You know, you would have thought that these tough generals would have said no way this is gonna happen when the father died.
"So he's gotta have something going for him, because he kept control, which is amazing for a young person to do," he added.
Trump has previously praised other world leaders with less-than-stellar human rights records.
He called Russian President Vladimir Putin a "highly respected" man in global affairs, after the Russian strongman called Trump "bright and talented."
>What if Obama gave you this assessment?
>What if John Kerry gave you this assessment?
>What if Hillary Clinton gave you this assessment?
What if Jeb Bush gave an assessment and nobody came? ;-)
Trump have always said he want best/ruthless ppl working on behalf of US so we win on every deal
Trump called the authoritarian leader a "madman playing around with nukes" and a "total nut job."
Did Francois Kerry or Barry Obama assess this yet?
CW, I “think” you mean well, but wow...
I think it’s remarkable that Kim (whatever his name is) can keep the lid on his populace and dissenters like he does.
His top political and military leaders seem to be outsmarted by him.
Now, does this mean I like the guy or I think he’s a great world leader?
What you are expressing, from my vantage point, is just childishness.
Why is it you folks are incapable of showing any evidence of common sense?
Trump is going to be the nominee, and the next president of the United States.
Deal with it.
It proves that it does not take much to be a totalitarian thug. This type of rule has gone on all through human history. This is how the rule over humans gets passed down from generation to generation when those next in line have no virtue or merit. They just take the reins of power and run the humans under them like animals hauling the cargo. they rule with a whip for obedience.
I can think of some folks who seem to be acting just like that...
LOL
Recognizing that someone has a talent for “getting things done” - good or evil - is not the same thing as heaping praise upon their actions, particularly when they are evil ... Context matters - but, as usual, the media (and others) appreciate neither that requirement nor the art of subtlety. So what else is new?
I think you misinterpret what this thread is about.
He’s going to do brutal things to the American marxists, the federal bureaucracy, the RNC, and the press.
I’m OK with that.
Good Lord.
He is asking rhetorical questions regarding the idea that this “madman” took over N. Korea and none of the Military Brass prevented it from happening.
You get “praiseworthy” out of that? I get, can you believe that the 25 Year Old guy pulled it off?
Heck, Trump is my number two choice after Cruz and I laugh at how both Camps can twist words to meet their desires.
Allow me to paraphrase your wisdom:
(Insert quarter, pull string)
“Blah-blah-blah ... Blah-blah ... Blah blah-blah-blah-blah”
This conversation will self-destruct in 10 seconds
I looked it up for you.
John Kerry: “...[Kerry] also characterized North Korean leader Kim Jong-un’s leadership as one of the most “egregious displays ... anywhere on the planet,” citing “stories of grotesque, grisly, horrendous public displays of executions on a whim and fancy.”....
I can’t find much about any Obama comments (beyond that Sony film, “The Interview” and the hacking dust-up).

This is something everyone will find “interesting.”
