A document uncovered by Breitbart News indicates that the parents of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) were named on a Calgary list of electors for Canada's federal election of July 8, 1974. Ted Cruz parents are listed as Cruz, Eleanor, Mrs. nd Cruz, Raphael, self employed, both at 920 Riverdale Avenue, South West in Calgary, Alberta.
Canadian law restricts (and restricted) federal voting rights to Canadian citizens.
In a statement to Breitbart Newsâthe full text of which follows this articleâJason Johnson, chief strategist for Cruz for President, said that âthe document itself does not purport to be a list of âregistered Canadian voters.â All this might conceivably establish is that this list of individuals (maybe) lived at the given addresses. It says nothing about who was a citizen eligible to vote.â
Johnson added: Eleanor was never a citizen of Canada, and she could not have been under the facts or the law. In short, she did not live in Canada long enough to be a Canadian citizen by the time Cruz was born in 1970: Canadian law required 5 years of permanent residence, and she moved to Canada in December 1967âonly 3 years before Senator Cruzâs birth. ...

No, Obama negated it.
Not much on reading comprehension, are you?
What do you feel Obama negated?
Not much on reading comprehension, are you?
I read your claim and asked you for proof.
Not big on proof, are you?
Actually it's not. We've now been relegated to once again throwing the Constitution out the window to keep a commie bitch out of office.
That's how they roll, hold on for the ride.
That’s my fear, the courts. The libs will judge shop until they find one willing to legislate from the bench to stop Cruz.
I pray there’s another way to put this to rest other than the courts.
âThe Constitution does not, in words, say who shall be natural-born citizens. Resort must be had elsewhere to ascertain that. At common-law, with the nomenclature of which the framers of the Constitution were familiar, it was never doubted that all children born in a country of parents who were its citizens became themselves, upon their birth, citizens also. These were natives, or natural-born citizens, as distinguished from aliens or foreigners.â Minor v. Happersett, 88 U.S. 162, 168.
There is you proof.
“Frankly, I believe neither Cruz nor Rubio are eligible under the constitution. Article II, Section 1, Clause 5 clearly states that a NBC is born of two American parents on American soil.”
This is Article 2, Section I, Clause 5. NOWHERE does it say that an NBC is ONLY born of 2 American Parents on American soil. You made that sh*t up. Now apologize and admit you’re wrong or that you intentionally lied.
“No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.”
Cruz is a US citizen. Do you agree?
Yes, I believe he is a citizen.
But if you care to study, he is not a Natural Born Citizen:
“Her birth certificate is no proof that she did not relinquish her citizenship and take that of her husband, Canadian.”
It takes a lot of renounce U S citizenship. The paperwork to do so gets filed with the US Government.
Founder historian, David Ramsay, who in his A Dissertation on the Manners of Acquiring the Character and Privileges of a Citizen (1789) told us that after July 4, 1776, birthright citizenship was preserved only for a child born to U.S. citizens, NOTE: Citizens which means BOTH parents are citizens.
(4) Dred Scott v. Sandford, 60 U.S. 393 (1857) (Justice Daniels concurring cited Vattel and The Law of Nations and provided his definition of natural born citizens and took out of Vattelâs definition the reference to âfathersâ and âfatherâ and replaced it with âparentsâ and âperson,â respectively, and stated: â’The citizens are the members of the civil society; bound to this society by certain duties, and subject to its authority, they equally participate in its advantages. The natives, or natural-born citizens, are those born in the country, of parents who are citizens. As society cannot perpetuate itself otherwise than by the children of the citizens, those children naturally follow the condition of their parents, and succeed to all their rights.’ Again: ‘I say, to be of the country, it is necessary to be born of a person who is a citizen; for if he be born there of a foreigner, it will be only the place of his birth, and not his country. . .
To those wondering about Trump’s case, he IS a Natural born Citizen. Of course only his mother was a naturalized citizen and that was well before his birth.(7) Perkins v. Elg, 307 U.S. 325 (1939) (confirmed that a child born in the United States to a naturalized U.S. citizen father and naturalized citizen mother, the mother being derivatively
naturalized by marrying a U.S. citizen, was a ânatural born Citizen.â
There are several other Supreme court Cases besides those listed above, all upholding Vattel’s description of Natural Born Citizen which is VERY different from Citizen.
I am simply citing it as one of the possibilities. there has to be some reaon why the records are sealed.
Excellent! When was his naturalization ceremony?
Did she vote, or was she just on a list of potential voters?
As far as we know she wasn’t in Canada long enough to become a citizen, so she wouldn’t have been able to vote.
The more this goes along the more I get the feeling some folks got a BIG problem with a Presidential candidate being born on foreign soil, even if that candidate is technically a natural born citizen.
For the record I think Cruz is an American and eligible for the office of POTUS.
What kind of game are you attempting to play?
SIGH
What nationality did the mother of Ted Cruz hold the day of his birth ???
What she did after that is irrelevant...
Thanks. Now where does the Constitution mention parents, as you first claimed?
You said he was a citizen, just not natural born.
Is there a third way to become a citizen?
“There are several other Supreme court Cases besides those listed above, all upholding Vattel’s description of Natural Born Citizen...”
Try citing ONE.
