Under assault from Donald Trump, Ted Cruz offered something of a thinly veiled contrast Friday....
Cruz, in the middle of an intense 28-county bus tour, has been arguing that he is out working the GOP field on the ground as they rely on "slick Hollywood TV ads."
Asked by reporters if he had much faith in the ground game of a Trump, Cruz mocked his opulence.
"I feel confident that I'm never going to have a plane with my name on it," he said at a church. "How do you run a grassroots campaign? It's very time intensive. It's labor intensive. You don't do it sitting back in the easy chair. You don't do it from a TV studio in Manhattan."
Cruz has consistently poked fun at Trump's wealth, telling a late night host that he would like Trump to write his campaign a large check and joking in a GOP debate that the New York builder should personally pay for a wall on the Mexico border.
However, the jokes at Trump's expense come after the billionaire businessman's has spent significant airtime ribbing Cruz over his Canadian birthplace and whether it jeopardizes his eligibility to be president. Constitutional scholars have said Cruz's citizenship will not be an issue.

“Cruz will dominate Iowa- and then, he’ll go after Anita Trump in NH”
Some of you Cruz supporters are delusional.
Donald Trump hasn’t been afraid to display his wealth. I found this refreshing; it is a promotion of the merits of capitalism.
Nevertheless, this is not a hard jab at Trump, if it is a jab at all.
File this under “never mind”
Hey COA. As you know, we can always gauge where Cruz stands by his reactions. Poking fun at Anita Trump— well, guess Ted is pretty confident in how the campaign is going.
Have you ever seen anything so low???? First, Ted is fine on eligibility according to Trump, then, Trump sees NH and Iowa slipping away-— and he goes Anita Hill.
What a pansy!
There are a lot of Cruz supporters who make fun of Trump worshippers. Yet Cruz can do no wrong in their eyes.
You might want to rethink this statement (or yours that I just highlighted) as a brilliant move.
It was genuinely stupid, and will be seen as such. No biggie, not going to ruin him, but it shows him to be a bit light in his ability to form a narrative.
Cruz isn’t jealous. He’s just trying to say Trump’s out of touch because of his wealth, that he doesn’t have to work as hard. He’s wrong because Trump is actually NOT out of touch with mainstream America, and for someone who is almost 70, his energy is incredible. He is working hard to run all these town halls...the interviews.
Cruz is just doing what politicians do...attack other candidates. Its’ part of the game.
Cruz couldn’t afford a plane.
“Ummmm, blame the media for the âsignificant airtimeâ. Trump said it ONCE as a response to an interview question.”
Sorry, but that is just flat out not true. Trump STARTED it with a response, but he has brought it up and even tweeted about it on his Twitter... The man keeps bringing it up, which really shows he’s grasping at straws on how to attack Cruz... if the best he can come up with is to re-hash the ‘ol birther garbage.
If there is a real fight it will be at the next debate. But I thinknot.
And Cruz supporters calls him Conservative. I think he is hidden Cuban Socialist/Commie.
It’s his advantage in personality not money cause Trump has hardly spent any yet.
Trump should say back “I payed for this plane”.
Folks should save their outrage for lies, smears and real below the belt stuff.
Huffing about an innocuous comment like this just makes a person look thin skinned.
And scam out millions with bankruptcy filings...
Once again, Trump gets everyone talking. Now the question is about Cruz’ citizenship, it is on everyone’s mind, and I think this is going to segue into Obama’s citizenship questions again, eventually. Personally, I think supporting Cruz is a big mistake, either Bush or the democrat candidate is going to go to court in about this, and is going to find himself/herself a strict constructionist judge who is going to rule that the constitution means what it says it means. Ignore the pundits, the fact is, they are not judges and all they have are opinions.
True, being a TV personality is a big advantage. But I’m sure many here would be mightily offended if Cruz mentioned that, also.
"I feel confident that I'm never going to have a plane with my name on it,"Not with that loser attitude.
This is a dumb move on Cruz’s part.

It’s a pretty smart move if you were using the “objectivity” of you tagline.
dynoman’s tagline: (Objectivity is the essence of intelligence. - Marylin vos Savant)
But, then again, perhaps “objectivity” is not of YOUR essence.
See post #16.
Umm..... Trump 41%, Cruz 13%. Unfiltered, the “I won’t vote for any of them” trails Trump’s 31% with 23% while Cruz is at 11%.
