Ryan Scores Dual Wins With Obamacare Repeal Vote

**SNIP**

For Ryan, Wednesday's vote represented two victories. First, he has bragging rights as the speaker who forced Obama to use the eighth veto of his presidency to protect the health care law. Secondly, having pushed the limits of repealing Obamacare and defunding Planned Parenthood as far as a veto override, the issue is likely now settled until after the election.

"The good news is, with this reconciliation bill, there will finally be some clarity," Rep. Trent Franks (R-Ariz.) told the Washington Post Tuesday. "The president will very glibly veto it. But at least then it will be on him and everybody will know it."

This frees Ryan to push the House toward what he envisions for 2016: outlining major policy initiatives that set a clear distinction between Republicans and the White House.

"Ultimately, this is going to require a Republican president," Ryan said of repealing the law. "That's why our top priority in 2016 is going to be offering the country a clear choice with a bold, pro-growth agenda."

Cruz’s epic speech on the Senate floor stated what this was: a show vote with no intention of really accomplishing anything conservative.

Only difference between lyin’ Ryan and Bone-head is that he’s sober and doesn’t smell like cigarettes.

If Obunga vetoes this he validates totally that he is a Muslim radical who is, and has been, very busy dismantling America.

I would love to see the look of absolute panic on the faces of Ryan and McConnell that would result if Obama signed the bill instead of vetoing it.

This is the silliest thing I've read so far this year.

Instead of putting it in the Budget Bill that Obama would have repercussions Vetoing, he makes it a stand alone Bill that Obama will Veto while accusing the Republicans of wanting to let Children Die for lack of Healthcare.

Yeah, what a winner Ryan is. Better get him a Copy of Trump’s Book, Art of the Deal. He might learn something.

Signing that bill would send the GOP establishment into absolute panic because they have nothing to replace it with. So Obamacare would be gone, the media would be flooded with stories of poor people who lost their insurance, and the Republicans would be responsible for it. Right in time for the elections.

“....and republicans won the senate, more house seats, and governorships of Maryland, Mass, and Illinois in 2014. They sure got the blame alright, and the people rewarded them for it.”

That was 2014. Take a look at the approval rates for the republican party just after or during the shutdown in the fall of 2013. An election at that time would have give control of congress to the democrats. It took restoring funding for the government and a year for the republican approval rates to improve to where they were before the shutdown.

The only thing a government shutdown would produce is a democrat congress. How’d that work out last time?

“Since your premise is imaginary (unless you can prove that you can see the future) no response is necessary; indeed, no response is rational. Nice try though.”

Please explain how a government shutdown would improve things without making an imaginary response.

“Do you have a plan that would have ended funding for PP and Obamacare? A government shutdown won’t work so what’s your plan?” DugwayDuke.

So, you don’t have the slightest idea for a plan that would defund PP or OC that doesn’t involve a government shutdown?

No. But I think that defunding Planned Parenthood and Obamacare are important issues that the Republicans should be fighting for. And I think that defunding Obamacare and, to a lesser extent, Planned Parenthood are worth taking the risk of a government shutdown. But what Ryan and McConnell are saying is that neither issue is worth a fight. Not even worth anything more than an empty gesture. So why not just admit that and save is all this meaningless vote?

Or can you think of another way to defund Planned Parenthood and Obamacare that would work?

Yes, I can. Ensure the Republicans maintain control of both houses and elect a conservative Republican president that will not veto defunding Obamacare or Planned Parenthood. There is no other viable strategy. It’s time to focus on what we can do and quit wasting time on unproductive things like government shutdowns.
