21 Questions For Donald Trump
National Memo ^ | 1/7/2016 | David Cay Johnston

Posted on 01/07/2016 2:55:03 PM PST by St_Thomas_Aquinas

1. You call yourself an "ardent philanthropist," but have not donated a dollar to The Donald J. Trump Foundation since 2006. You're not even the biggest donor to the foundation, having given about $3.7 million in the previous two decades while businesses associated with Vince McMahon's World Wrestling Entertainment gave the Trump Foundation $5 million. All the money since 2006 has come from those doing business with you.

5. The biggest gift you have talked about appears to be an easement at the Palos Verdes, California, golf course bearing your name on land you wanted to build houses on, but that land is subject to landslides and is now the golf course driving range.

Did you or one of your businesses take a tax deduction for this land that you could not build on and do you think anyone should get a $25 million tax deduction for a similar self-serving gift?

6. Trump Tower is not a steel girder high rise, but 58 stories of concrete.

Why did you use concrete instead of traditional steel girders?

7. Trump Tower was built by S&A Concrete, whose owners were "Fat" Tony Salerno, head of the Genovese crime family, and Paul "Big Paul" Castellano, head of the Gambinos, another well-known crime family.

If you did not know of their ownership, what does that tell voters about your management skills?

I want to know if Trump inappropriately uses a salad fork for cutting into a rib eye.

OH MY GOD! Donald Trump eats meat?

This is fun.

Concrete building “wreaks havoc on schedules”

Only if you’re a hack. Trump did the biggest pour of self consolidating concrete in North America in 2005. And it was done in a single day.

Trump is “all mobbed up”? Good. I trust the mob more than I trust D.C. politicians. At least they’re effective and honest.

Trump is really doing groundbreaking work (pun unintended) making concrete-core buildings.

That's nice.

So why didn't he build it with steel?

Buildings of that height are usually built with steel. The only structural reason for using concrete would be if the building was exceptionally thin.

Meanwhile, more fun with the Donald at Trump Tower:

Trump testified in 1990 he was unaware that 200 undocumented Polish immigrants, some of whom lived at the site during a transit strike and worked round-the-clock shifts (for which they were allegedly paid $4 and $5 per hour off-the-book wages, if at all), were involved in the destruction of the former Bonwit Teller building and Trump Tower project. Trump said that he rarely visited the demolition site and never noticed the laborers, who were known as the "Polish Brigade" and who were visually distinct for their lack of hard hats.

A labor consultant and FBI informant, separately convicted on tax evasion charges, testified that Trump was aware of the illegal workers' status. In testimony, Trump admitted that he and an executive used the pseudonym "John Baron" in some of his business dealings, although Trump claimed that he did not do so until years after Trump Tower was constructed.

A labor lawyer testified that he was threatened over the phone with a $100 million lawsuit by someone using that name from the Trump Organization. ("Lots of people use pen names", Trump quipped to a reporter. "Ernest Hemingway used one.")

Filed in 1983, the class-action lawsuit over unpaid labor union pension and medical obligations went through several appeals and non-jury trials, and was at one point compared by a presiding judge to Jarndyce and Jarndyce, the seemingly unending case which forms the backbone of Charles Dickens' Bleak House. The lawsuit was ultimately settled in 1999, with its records sealed.

Have you ever used a pseudonym in your business dealings?

“Have you ever used a pseudonym in your business dealings? “

That’s an easy one to answer. If he’s interested in a property and they find out “DONALD TRUMP IS INTERESTED” they’ll jack up the asking price.

The Art of the Deal.

You know it’s really entertaining to watch the volleys between the Trump supporters and Cruz supporters and bad as I am I’ll be happy to throw a grenade every now and then from either side.

Has Trump ever been indicted or convicted of a crime? If so, why haven’t we heard about it? The careful way that question was worded makes me think that someone is trying to imply something more than what actually happened. What were the details of this investigation?

Where is trump's documentation proving he's not in the pocket of the mob?

So many questions. So few answers.

9. In demolishing the Bonwit Teller building to make way for Trump Tower, you had no labor troubles, even though only about 15 unionists worked at the site alongside 150 Polish men, most of whom entered the country illegally, lacked hard hats, and slept on the site.

How did you manage to avoid labor troubles, like picketing and strikes, and job safety inspections while using mostly non-union labor at a union worksite, without hard hats for the [mostly illegal immigrant] Polish workers?

Does anyone remember Romney's hiring of a lawn service that employed illegals and how he was treated by the media?

Why is the media silent on this... now? Will they be silent... later?

And how DO you avoid job safety inspections on a job site?

Sorry, but I lived a little closer to them. I wouldn’t want again a president entangled with them.

We’ll eventually see these questions asked. In the lamestream media, after trump is nominated.

If the GOP nominates trump, the party may have a precarious time!

See #10:

A federal judge later found you [i.e., Trump] conspired to cheat both the Polish workers, who were paid less than $5 an hour cash with no benefits, and the union health and welfare fund.
From Wikipedia:
Trump testified in 1990 he was unaware that 200 undocumented Polish immigrants, some of whom lived at the site during a transit strike and worked round-the-clock shifts (for which they were allegedly paid $4 and $5 per hour off-the-book wages, if at all), were involved in the destruction of the former Bonwit Teller building and Trump Tower project. The lawsuit was ultimately settled in 1999, with its records sealed.

If so, why haven't we heard about it?

We may hear more about it if he wins the nomination. The media is strangely silent right now.

Why the other candidates haven't dropped this on him is beyond me.

Ive been asking questions about Trump for months. The one thing the trumpeters have almost completely in common is their unwillingness and/or inability to answer questions about him.

"That's an easy one to answer. If he's interested in a property and they find out "DONALD TRUMP IS INTERESTED" they'll jack up the asking price."

The Art of the Deal.

I don't think that was the case here:

A labor lawyer testified that he was threatened over the phone with a $100 million lawsuit by someone using that name from the Trump Organization.
It seems like it was more a case of Threat's Make a Deal.
