Will Yogi Bear have enough time to say,
“Bigger than the average volcano, Boo Boo! I guess this means no more pickanick baskets for us.”

quote from another article on the subject :
“it would push much of Earth to the verge of extinction.
Itâs immediate effects would be deadly enough, with some estimates saying that 87,000 people would be killed instantly.
A 10-foot layer of ash would spread up to 1,000 miles away, leaving two-thirds of the country completely uninhabitable.

After the Flood, God promised that the world would never again be totally destroyed and sealed that promise with the first rainbow. He assures us that there will always be a “seed time and a harvest time,” as He controls the climate. So you either put your trust in the Creator and Preserver of the world or the prognostications of sinful men of no faith. It makes a world of difference.

Not to mention most of Canada. That magma chamber extends up to Edmonton, Alberta if memory serves.
The way I figure, God is in control of all that. There’s nothing we can do about it.

After the Flood, God promised that the world would never again be totally destroyed and sealed that promise with the first rainbow. The promise was that he would not destroy the earth by water again. Next time it's going to burn.

Well we are pumping out all that oil. That oil lubricates the earth’s axis. Pump out too much oil, the earth’s axis seizes up and it blows. It’s mankind’s fault. ;-)

We’ll get 3-10 millimeters here. Tilling that in might make the clay muck here in North Texas more workable.

If Yellowstone blew.... the US would be gone instantly.
Guess the joke would be on you, Ayatollah.
To: PreciousLiberty
If Yellowstone blew, at least there would be enough lead time for Obama to take Air Force One to Hawaii.

There are few real contingency plans in place to deal with the ticking time bomb,
People should not be allowed to live in areas that might be dangerous.
Everyone should be covered with Kevlar and bubblewrap and stay in environment-proof shelters.
And bigger warning signs should be posted everywhere.

Imagine the devastation if this supervolcano and the New Madrid fault earthquake happened at the same time. Omaha NB could become a new port on the Gulf of Mexico.

Yellowstone would of course be much worse (VEI 8+) I'm not so sure of that. I have read that the last 60-80 eruptions at Yellowstone have had no impact outside the Yellowstone region.
At the end of the day, we have a 5-10% chance that something will happen and a 5-10% chance that if something does happen it will have any effect on the nation at all. Then add to that the fact that IF something does happen we will almost certainly have a couple years warning due to severe increases in seismic activity and upward growth of the caldera of up to 10 inches per year.
I'm not getting my panties in a bunch over this.
