Iran's foreign ministry claimed that warplanes from the Saudi Arabia-led coalition involved in Yemen's ongoing war struck and damaged its embassy in Sanaa, yet another incident that could inflame tensions between Tehran and Riyadh.

Iran condemned the strike, according to foreign ministry spokesman Hussein Jaberi Ansari. But it was not immediately clear if the Iranian embassy was targeted or if it got struck unintentionally amid the broader conflict within Yemen. That war pits the Shiite Muslim rebel Houthis supported by Iran against forces loyal to President Abdu Rabu Mansour Hadi, which are being backed militarily and otherwise by the overwhelmingly Sunni nation of Saudi Arabia.

If you look at overhead imagery on Google....it’s an urbanized area....soccer field two or three blocks away. Some kind of shopping complex to the NW of the compound. Some kind of Toyota dealership to the NE side. Embassy of Oman is a half-mile away.

I don’t see anything relating to a military structure. Must be a couple of guys out of truck and firing rounds in the neighborhood.

An AP reporter at the scene said he didn’t see any damage to the embassy.

My guess is that FRussians are siding with Iran since that is who Putin sides with.

Doesn’t appear now that the embassy was hit. But even so it seems the Saudi’s are provoking a fight. Why? Why did they execute that cleric? He’d been in jail for years. They must have known there would be a response from Iran. I’d like to know what’s really going on.

I only give a rip because of what this does to the price of gas.

Iran has nearly four times the population of Saudi. Saudis may regret anything they ever said against Israel, while at the same time hoping that the hated Jews will intervene if the ayatollahs go full postal.

I’d like to see Iran and Saudi Arabia bomb the hell out of each other. I don’t know what Russia has to do with this but in your mind.

History shows that the regime in Iran, led by Khomeini came to power destroying and occupying Embassies. Further historical data shows that in Beirut, the Iranian diplomatic mission was really just a holding cell for captured westerners and hostages. When Iran called the American Embassy Tehran a den of spy’s, they know from “operational” experience what they are talking about.
