Professional Pandering -- Desperate Cruz, Dependent on Iowa, Flip-Flops on Ethanol Subsidies...

Posted on January 6, 2016 by sundance

In what can only be noted as "typically Cruzian" the Senator who sponsored the "Renewable Fuel Standard Repeal Act", which would have immediately repealed the ethanol mandate, has now reversed course and claims to support continued Iowa Corn Subsidies.

The pandering flip-flop becomes "brutally Cruzian" when the campaign for Ted Cruz denies the current change in position by pointing to a prior change in position; saying, in effect: when Senator Ted Cruz decided to run for President he changed his position, and in 2014 supported a five year phase out of the Renewable Fuel Standard.

So candidate Cruz was against Iowa corn subsidy, 2013; then became for Iowa corn subsidy (with phase out), 2014, and now advocates on behalf of corn subsidy in 2016.

Just like Senator Cruz’s advocacy for the Corker/Cardin amendment (Iran Deal); and just like Senator Cruz’s advocacy for Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) within the Trans-Pacific Trade Deal; Ted Cruz is for them, until he becomes against them – only when the consideration of "them" is determined by the general approval of the electorate.

Got it.

"Cruzian" and "Clintonian" are now virtually synonymous.

[...] Farmers and rural communities across Iowa are going to be encouraged by Sen. Cruz's remarks. He is clearly listening to the people of Iowa and understands the importance of the Renewable Fuel Standard to America’s economy and energy independence, as he started the caucus process calling for immediate repeal.

While not perfect, this is a big step forward by Sen. Cruz. (Iowa Corn Lobby)

I am on the Alzheimer's innuendo bandwagon!...

Did you know that Trump had Alzheimer's for six years? Fred Trump. Donald's father.

Look, that doesn't mean that Donald has it. I'm not saying that Trump has Alzheimer's.

But some people have suggested it. So it's something Trump is going to have to deal with.

If he really wanted to clear the air he would have released all of his medical records by now. Is he hiding something?

He's a nice guy. I want to help him. But he's terrible. And he probably has Alzheimer's.

I heard a rumor that trump has alzheimer’s. He should have his doctor declare that he doesn’t have it. I heard that his medical records on this are sealed! Hermetically! What is he hiding?? Why is he preventing us from seeing his alzheimer’s treatment records?? I’m not saying it’s a problem, but this could be a precarious problem. I’m sure he doesn’t have it, but why hasn’t he addressed it, why the secrecy??

You got a problem with ELO and Olivia Newton-John? Xanadu is FABULOUS!

I knew you hated America and loved Obama.

LOL

That Alzheimer’s, it’s terrible...how can you be president if you have Alzheimer’s? It’s terrible.

I’m not saying he has it. His doctor says he’s the healthiest person since Samson pulled down the temple. It’s fantastic. So he’s healthy. I’m not implying. I’m not accusing. But if he has it, it’s terrible.

Trump loves Xsnadu. It's fantastic. In fact, he'd make it our national movie. He can get things done.

LOL I’ve got people on twitter worrying about Trump’s early onset Alzheimer’s.

But just because I’m concerned and all.

LOL

Whoever did it, thanks for the ping. I see what y’all are doing and it is a good way forward. I will join in when I get my hyperbole generator tuned up for maximum performance and I perfect “The Art of the Non Sequitur.”

Has anyone looked at where Trump was on 11/22/1963? I don’t think anyone has said he was in Dallas, but it needs to be looked into.

Because, if he was in Dallas, that would need to be looked into.

I consider it “cooler” to have my own mind, form my own opinions, and reject blind following of others.

Wait. That's like... 'thinking'. Whoa.

“High School never ends”. [...] it usually manifests in the personality cult behavior that is a mirror of the ‘cool kids table’ in the lunch room.

TRUE. Add to that the old adage, 'people are sheep', and you've got a pretty good working model... with a touch of that 'lemmings' thing.

Don’t worry citizen. The poster you mentioned has been made nonperson and is being reeducated to get her mind right. Clearly she was under conservative influence and has been punished for her thoughtcrime.

As you were. Take your soma and everything will be just fine......

Big Brother love you you know.

One of them said that conservatism doesn't really exist.

One of the memes being pushed - Questioning the very concept. Or they really don't know, and they are here as single issue conservatives - taxes, R2KBA, etc. ... I have had a bit of that too: 'What is conservatism really anyway?' or 'Conservatism is different for everyone'... Really parallel to the liberal 'Don't label me' thing.

How often are the 3 pillars discussed? Where's the 3-legged stool? There is a complete departure from Reagan - No understanding of what he gave us, that what we should look for in a candidate is the guy who not only satisfies one's own principles, but rather, the principles of all three factions. Nobody goes under the bus, nobody has to sit in the back of the bus... The only way it works is when we all get to drive, in the person of a fully fledged Conservative - One who embraces all of the principles of Conservatism.

Another meme is to question whether there are enough Conservatives left to get a win - This is inevitably pointed at the last several candidates, and their failure to bring it home (as if they were Conservatives at all, in the first place). Inevitably, they preach a necessity to win over Democrats, and appeal to the mythical middle.

Which would be pathetic...I thought we left that kind of thing behind in junior high.

The followers, I can understand - they are what they are. But I see something far more nefarious at work here. These are jackals - here to rip and tear. It isn't about truth and vetting. It's about bloody destruction. As with this OP: Countered and perfectly proven false (not just false, but an outright lie) on the first page, and that should be the end of it. But it won't be. Even though it is absolutely false, it will be thrown at the wall anyway, again, and again, trying to get it to stick. In the aggregate, it becomes a cackling cacophony, rolled out at the highest decibel. Loud, obnoxious, and confusing... which I think is the end game.

It offends me how blatant the slander is - I don't need to slander Trump - He falls by his own weight.

Dallas. He was in Dallas recently. Would he revisit the scene of a crime? Okay, maybe. Not smart. But maybe.
