Professional Pandering -- Desperate Cruz, Dependent on Iowa, Flip-Flops on Ethanol Subsidies...

Posted on January 6, 2016 by sundance

In what can only be noted as "typically Cruzian" the Senator who sponsored the "Renewable Fuel Standard Repeal Act", which would have immediately repealed the ethanol mandate, has now reversed course and claims to support continued Iowa Corn Subsidies.

The pandering flip-flop becomes "brutally Cruzian" when the campaign for Ted Cruz denies the current change in position by pointing to a prior change in position; saying, in effect: when Senator Ted Cruz decided to run for President he changed his position, and in 2014 supported a five year phase out of the Renewable Fuel Standard.

So candidate Cruz was against Iowa corn subsidy, 2013; then became for Iowa corn subsidy (with phase out), 2014, and now advocates on behalf of corn subsidy in 2016.

Just like Senator Cruz’s advocacy for the Corker/Cardin amendment (Iran Deal); and just like Senator Cruz’s advocacy for Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) within the Trans-Pacific Trade Deal; Ted Cruz is for them, until he becomes against them – only when the consideration of "them" is determined by the general approval of the electorate.

Got it.

"Cruzian" and "Clintonian" are now virtually synonymous.

[...] Farmers and rural communities across Iowa are going to be encouraged by Sen. Cruz's remarks. He is clearly listening to the people of Iowa and understands the importance of the Renewable Fuel Standard to America’s economy and energy independence, as he started the caucus process calling for immediate repeal.

While not perfect, this is a big step forward by Sen. Cruz. (Iowa Corn Lobby)

I believe Christ fulfilled all of the law and Torah on our behalf.

Looks like Trump is getting his money’s worth getting Huckabee, Santorum to attack Ted Cruz, all these news articles to attack Ted Cruz, the main stream media now going after Ted Cruz on his eligibility.

They talk about the Democrats brining up Ted Cruz’s eligibility ?

Just wait until the Clintons expose dirt on Donald Trump.

Deflection of choice, the action to resort to when Trump supporters can’t defend his liberal past.

I believe Christ fulfilled all of the law and Torah on our behalf.

There is plenty that is unfulfilled. For example, the Torah predicts that the Messiah will return. That hasn't happened yet. Yet even if that was the case, do you really think that G_d wouldn't want you to honor His Law, if only out of love for Him, to learn His ways? I can tell you, the blessings and curses found in the law work almost mechanically; there is no mystery to the process at all. Yet we won't see how they work unless we follow those tenets to observe their mechanics. Don't you think we would benefit by doing things His way?

As a fellow Cruz supporter I will have to respect in how you believe, no need to get into a theological debate on who’s right or who’s wrong.

Having said that, I am not ashamed of the Gosple of Jesus Christ.

There is no other name under heaven and earth where there is salvation.

Ephesians 4:18 “They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart.”

Proverbs 8:13 “The fear of the Lord is hatred of evil. Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perverted speech I hate.”

There is always a misguided belief that democrats will turn out for the right republican and a few will but it will never be enough.

They have this fantasy of “bringing back the Reagan democrats” but the reality is that those people never returned to the democrat fold. Some 40% of Michigan private sector union members already vote republican so they aren’t new voters. In 2012 those voters primarily went to Santorum and the election ended in a tie with both candidates winning 7 districts each. (the party broke the tie in favor of Romney)

The other 60% of union members are like my cousin. He holds a few socially conservative views but is otherwise a dyed in the wool marxist who wants his Obamacare fully funded by “the 1%” who should also pay for him to retire at 50. My cousin and several of his co-workers went to the Grand Rapids Trump rally (paid of course) but will all vote for Bernie Sanders in the primary and whichever democrat wins in the general.

In Michigan we don’t have a closed primary but we don’t allow a split primary ticket. If a democrat wants to vote for Trump, they have to sacrifice every other democrat primary race and I don’t see it happening when the democrats are so desperate to regain control of the state.

I’ve read that no other states are seeing a rush of new registrations or party switches.

Yeah, that was a magic act there, the way the respondent just happened to pop up...I’m sure he happened to be reading at that exact time by coincidence.

And then, of course, there’s the one who loves Clinton, who last popped up in 2012 to accuse Freepers of racism, and who responds by quoting Scripture in which she replaces the name of Jesus with her own.

"Yes, but sadly, all to many are regulars. That's what's nuts. Sometimes I wonder if these folks even know what Conservatism even is. *shakes head*"

One of them said that conservatism doesn't really exist.

Going back to Trump threads from 2011 and seeing how many Freepers, some of them longtimers, have completely reversed themselves, leads me to wonder how genuine his support really is here. I would venture to say at least some of them are afraid to buck what they see as the forum trend; they think it's safer to go along and get along.

Which would be pathetic...I thought we left that kind of thing behind in junior high.

There is one ‘rule’ to go by on any internet/social media forum

“High School never ends”.

Once you accept that most people are exactly who they were in high school, just older, the behavior is unmistakeable. Actually ALL people are. Its just that a few of us can control it and ‘act’ like adults. Most don’t even try. And it usually manifests in the personality cult behavior that is a mirror of the ‘cool kids table’ in the lunch room.

"Rush Limbaugh said on his show yesterday that most of Trump’s support is NOT coming from Conservatives who listen to talk radio, but rather most of Trump’s support is coming from blue collar Democrats."

I heard that, too. Is it any wonder? We understand why.

"Trump should switch parties and feel at home in the DNC and go up against Hillary."

Well, he's joined in the rest of the establishment attacks on Cruz's "eligibility", which is just the latest evidence of his lifelong progressivism. Yet his supporters who claim to despise the establishment cheer him on.

"Strange isn’t it ?

Trump and his minnions claim they want to make America Great again, but yet ?

They act like immature juveniles cheering on the laying off of 4,000 people.

Their rethoric of creating jobs just went down the tubes, they and Trump lost all credibility about creating jobs when they laugh at the demise of Macy’s."

Well, you know how it is with the Trump fans. Anyone who dares to criticize their superhero must be vanquished, and to hell with anyone else. He's the only one who matters.

I consider it “cooler” to have my own mind, form my own opinions, and reject blind following of others.

LOL

Isn't it clear? I support GOP-E, establishment, bought-and-paid-for, tied-to-big-oil, ineligible Ted Cruz!

I grew up in an isolated rural community where the most liberal thought anyone had was “wouldn’t it be cool if pot were legal”. I can’t remember ever having any belief that abortion was OK or that any kind of socialism was cool.
