Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson said Wednesday that he wants lawmakers to end the state's practice of commemorating Martin Luther King Jr. and Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee on the same day.
Speaking to reporters, Hutchinson said the Legislature should give King his own holiday when they meet for their next regular session next year. Arkansas is one of three states to jointly celebrate the black civil rights icon and the white leader of the Confederate Army on the third Monday in January, and a proposal to end that practice failed repeatedly before a House committee last year. ...

” . . . and the white leader of the Confederate Army . . .”
I don’t think America could survive the loss of AP.
Lee should definitely have his own holiday, and not be forced to share one with the lowlife King.
More GOPe on their knees blowing whatever pinga dangling their way
Be sure and take it to the logical conclusion Asa
And bend over too
Why don’t you do it in honour of that little whitegirl killed north of Dallas over the weekend for not being open to negroes vulgar overtures
Or that blonde reporter repeatedly raped and sodomized and tortured by that micro aggressed black man in Little Rock
Or someone I knew in passing murdered in Does Eats parking lot a few years ago in Little Rock
I mean who knows
Those dang white people might have liked Marse Robert too
YOU SIR ARE A COWARD OF THE FIRST ORDER
EXACTLY THE NOUN COLONEL PETERSON SO LOVES
....with kinsmen like these down here who needs more Yankees
Southern Kapos
We’ll remember I hope
The is an insult to my Brother and my Grandson who were both born on Robert E Lees birth day.
3. King was under FBI surveillance for several years (until he died) due to his ties with communist organizations throughout the country. King accepted money from the organizations to fund his movements. In return, King had to appoint communist leaders to run certain districts of his SCLC (Southern Christian Leadership Conference), who then could project their communist ideas to larger audiences. A federal judge in the 60's ruled that the FBI files on King links to communism to remain top-secret until 2027. Senator Jesse Helms appealed to the Supreme Court in 1983 to release the files, so the correct bill in the Senate to create the Martin Luther King Federal Holiday could be abolished. He was denied.

If we are going to be forced to take a day off for MLK, I have long suggested it be each year on the Monday following the Super Bowl. Win/Win!
That’s what happens when a liberal democrat is elected governor. Republicans should do a better job of vetting their candidates.
I’m starting to see the trickled pattern across the world that it’s a “hate crime” to be white.
Can’t believe ole Asa is still attempting to drum up new voters. He came thru years ago when private satellite dishes were first introduced. He and L. Graham. The would get with whoever and tell satellite owners they would work to allow free access to cable channels like HBO, CSPAN, CNN, etc. Right! He was a failure way back then. We’d see the DC crew night after night like hookers on the nearest corner selling their wares. Shame, Shame, Asa.
Robert Edward Lee born January 19, 1807
Martin Luther King, Jr. born January 15, 1929
Why is there a problem here?
.
Don’t forget Douglas MacArthur born: Jan. 26, 1880. One of the most brilliant generals ever.
MacArthur finished first in his class at West Point. Lee finished second in his. On the other hand, Lee alone finished without a single demerit.
We used to have Lee/Jackson/King Day in Virginia. They moved Lee/Jackson Day.
I remember when the King holiday was being considered. A local radio morning show shock jock called The Greaseman proposed an alternative: shoot four more and take the whole damn week off.
