You should have sympathy for the Hammond family.
You should have sympathy for Steven and Dwight Hammond because they are, by all accounts, decent and generous community members attempting to survive as ranchers in the face of a massive federal bureaucracy violating their rights. Here's everything you need to know about the Hammond family and why they're now at the center of a national firestorm.

Here you go. Ben is a very credible source.
Everybody sympathizes with the Hammond’s Ben.
The Hammond’s make the mistake of being half in. Either they are right or they are wrong. From what I have read their convictions under anti-terrorist laws are blatant bs and they should fight those convictions with everything they have got. They should also welcome any help they get from like minded folks. They can do that while dissociating from any hint of violence. I am sure Obama would like nothing more than white guys with AK’s in camo starting firefights on federal land.
It’s been a long painful story for them, apparently driven by a “no humans” policy by some in the government (I’ve seen it elsewhere, to historically tragic effects).
The core & immediate problem is that two of them were tried & convicted thru creative misuse of law, one up to a year in prison, SERVED THEIR TIME, and _now_ the BLM et al are trying to re-convict and re-sentence and re-incarcerate them for having not served long enough on grounds that a “five year minimum” was ignored.
I’m inclined to think that once a judge has made a ruling, and the punishment has (nontrivially) been served, the issue is DONE - even if the judicial system made a mistake and didn’t dole out as severe a punishment as it arguably should have.
The whole incident is starting to make sense, it isn’t straightforward, and I understand why the principals are inclined to go so far as a shootout.
Unfortunately, it’s being muddled by wannabes jumping onto a flaming bandwagon.
This is tyranny, pure and simple.
Except the Hammonds have said they do not support the take over.
I believe that their going back to jail is obscene. I would favor protests, civil disobedience, and other methods to support them.
This is not a good time to enter into armed insurrection.
The reason I was mocking Cruz and Rubio telling the Bundy boys to go home which they should is due to the fact that they are both sitting senators and where were they when they could have been trying to stop the Feds from persecuting the Hammonds?
This event with the Hammonds, the Clive Bundy confrontation, and the Wayne Hage ongoing fiasco are poster boards for the total elimination of the BLM and the US Forest Service with all current federally administered lands being returned to state control.
The feds can have their military bases and post offices, and I’d let them keep the national parks, for now, but all other lands go back to the states.
I did not know that. Got a link?
Yes it is.
1. The feds illegally and unconstitutionally hold that land.
2. The feds illegally and unconstitutionally hold that land.
3. The feds illegally and unconstitutionally hold that land.
4. The feds illegally and unconstitutionally hold that land.
5. The feds illegally and unconstitutionally hold that land.
Having read the five reason and having been involved in this sort of business, the number one reason you should support the Hammonds - whatever the circumstances claimed or the particulars - is this isn’t the first time, nor will it be the last - but rest assured one of those times be it this year or 10 years form now will involve the feds and you over property rights and whether or not you have any. The use of federal lands is not the issue even though that’s how the media makes the story sound - property rights are.

Randy Weaver almost found that out for himself.
The dead women and children at Waco found it out, for a little while...
Can’t get much longer than it is.
I still don’t understand how they can do this.
If you would like more information about what's happening in Oregon, please FReepmail me.
I lost my Oregon list when my computer crashed last year, so please send me your name by FReepmail if you want to be on this list.
I first heard it in Ammon Bundy's New Year's Day video (which will not play for me today, for some reason, but maybe it will for you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M7M0mG6HUyk). He said that they were at the Hammond home at first and they were all in for assistance until the Obama DOJ got involved and told the Hammond lawyers that if they corresponded in any way with the Bundy group, they would have additional penalties tacked on and would also be sent to a worse penitentiary than the one they were scheduled to go to. Since then, the lawyers have completely denied any connection to the Bundy group. In later videos, Bundy has said they were still corresponding with the Hammond family (in fact, late last night when the intel came in that an FBI raid was imminent, the Bundy brothers drove over to the Hammond house to check on them. They are aware that the BLM has attempted to burn down the Hammond home on a previous occasion.)
Thuggov.
Don’t recall now but it was a big thing when this first started.
