I was up half the night watching the Pete Santilli feed from the Malheur Wildlife Refuge. At one point, Santilli recorded Tony Dokoupil (pronounced "dook-ville," or perhaps more appropriately, "douche-ville") of MSNBC interviewing Ammon Bundy. Bundy gave a very long, patient interview, talking over loud diesel trucks in the background for a good 8-9 minutes. At the very end, Dokoupil said something like, "Your father, Cliven Bundy, made some racially divisive remarks. How do you feel about black people?" I'm screaming at the screen "That's irrelevant! Don't answer that! Walk away!" Bundy again made a very patient, soft-spoken answer defending his father, explaining the context, and defending himself against the obvious racial ambush. That was the point that I knew that the only part of that entire interview that would be aired was the last 30 seconds as the media changed the narrative.
Santilli caught most of it on camera, though it was difficult to hear some of it with the diesel trucks running in the background. (Apparently a lot of locals were driving in and out to bring supplies and offer support.) Afterwards, he followed Dokoupil and told him exactly what he thought of what had just happened. Dokoupil just shrugged and walked off.

So this morning, Santilli went straight to the NBC News truck asking to speak to Tony Dokoupil, who was inside having his eyeliner applied. Santilli confronted Dokoupil and an unnamed woman (who is probably a producer), and takes them both to task over the racial attack the night before. The entire interaction is extremely entertaining, including the part where Dokoupil says, "We were the last media here last night" and Santilli responds, "No, I was the last media here last night. And I was here all night." Dokoupil looks at him in stunned exasperation like, "Who the hell is this guy?" (Dokoupil just oozes with elitist arrogance.) The entire confrontation is priceless, but even better is the interaction I transcribed below. There is a lot of background noise with the news truck generator, but stick with it...it's totally worth it.

Santilli: ... a lot of your income comes from the fact that the government... and that's why we call you the "state-run media"... is for you guys to be creating racial division on behalf of the establishment... (crosstalk)
Woman: We need to work (unintelligible) but we have to go back inside...
Santilli: Go back inside.
Woman: You have no idea (unintelligible) ... you have to let us work (crosstalk)
Santilli: Yes, it's called Ambush Journalism. It's what I specialize in. (crosstalk) Yeah. That's okay. I'm Pete Santilli. That's how I roll. It's what I do.
Dokoupil: Pete... (holds hand out) All right, man. Take care.
Santilli: All right. Thank you. Bye Bye.
(crosstalk under generator noise)
Santilli: Hey, by the way... I'm putting the word out right now, okay? To everybody. You guys might as well pack up your trucks and go, cause you're not getting any more (unintelligible) out of these guys...
Dokoupil & Woman: (both turn in unison with jaws-dropped, stunned silence, expressions that say, "Excuse me?")
Dokoupil: (sarcastically) Okay, I guess that's it then.
Santilli: Cause I'm ambushing the F*** out of you, so you need to get the F*** out. That was an ambush question. That was an ambush question. You're not getting any more interviews as far as I'm concerned because I'm going to tell them what you did last night.
Dokoupil: Yeah, you tell 'em. You do it.
Santilli: I'm going to.
Dokoupil: (heavily sarcastic) Okay, thanks Pete.
Santilli: Pack up your trucks and go, okay? This is called ambush journalism, just like you ambushed... It's ambush racial division, okay? That's right.
(Dokoupil & Woman head inside trailer. Santilli pulls out a big megaphone and hits the button as door to the NBC trailer closes.)
Santilli: YOU CAN GO HIDE; MY BULLHORN CAN GET THROUGH THAT DOOR. I'M GONNA TELL YOU THAT RIGHT NOW. THIS IS CALLED AMBUSH JOURNALISM LIKE YOU AMBUSHED BUNDY AT THE PEAK OF ANXIETY, OKAY? PACK UP YOUR TRUCK AND GO HOME. TAKE YOUR GOVERNMENT-SPONSORED NBC NEWS TRUCK AND LEAVE. YOU DISGUSTING, RACIALLY DIVISIVE PIGS. I'VE GOT MORE AFRICAN-AMERICANS TUNING IN TO MY SHOW THAN YOU DO.

I think that, with respect to liberals in general, but especially the media, EVERYTHING has a racial component.
Particularly if it gives them the opportunity to change the narrative.

What if they are moving backwards at -30 mph?
Well, I find skiing backwards @ 30 mph to be scary and life threatening. Similar to riding on a bicycle under the same conditions. Jumping off a ski jump.... etc....
And I would imagine that backwards at -30 mph might send you into some sort of alternate universe. ;)
