While announcing his new executive actions on guns, President Obama spoke today about the pain of having to give speeches after mass shootings. He also spoke about meeting Gabby Giffords shortly after she was shot, and noted that she opened her eyes for the first time just an hour after his visit.
He spoke about his support for the Second Amendment, his background as a constitutional law professor, his critics, his frequent trouble locating his iPad, and perhaps most memorably, his anger when thinking about child victims of mass shootings.
If it's starting to sound like Obama made frequent mention of himself, that’s because he did.
In total, we counted 76 references to himself during his 33-minute address.

Honestly, if he had someone who spoke candidly with him, he really really needs to improve this in his speeches. A very poor habit.
What a friggin phony.
What Obama wants, more than anything else, is a legacy. In his mind, Martyrdom is the ultimate legacy. (Hmm, who else glorifies martyrdom?)
What Obama wants, more than anything else, if for a white guy to take a shot at him...ideally to inflict a minor would that bleeds a lot for the camera.
Now who might be suckered into giving Obama his legacy?
The Mooch, Sasha and Malaria, must be mortified by his little play acting crying scene. My children would absolutely die if their father acted like that on TV.
I caught a little bit of his speech today while listening to Rush briefly at lunch.
Am I right in understanding that he mentioned Gabby Giffords’ shooting (and the astronaut in a long story about nothing) and her recovery and then went on to discuss shooting victims in other incidents who aren’t so lucky? Did he really ignore the other people who were shot and killed at the same event Mrs. Giffords was at?
