Trump leads among men with 39% of support, compared to 21% of men who support Cruz and 13% of men who support Rubio. Trump also leads among women with 29% support, while Cruz and Rubio have about equal support from womenâ13% and 14%, respectively.
Perhaps surprisingly, Trump also has the highest support among white evangelical votersâ33%. Although Ben Carson did fairly well among white evangelicals (12%), the group heavily favored Trump. Cruz also did well with white evangelicals, with 2 in 10 supporting him.

Don’t forget the Romney staff (same diff, I know :).
Evangelicals aren't supporting Trump because of his "strong religious beliefs" but because he is a decent man who isn't atheist and actually has a moral/ethical code.
Those who insist on a "holier than thou because of strong outspoken religious beliefs" candidate only help the Evil One when they use that as their biggest standard.
That said, Jesus is Lord and Savior and none of us deserves even a drop of the blood He shed for us.....Praise God for His Love and constant goodness with His wayward children!!!
YUGE!!!
Thanks for the ping :)
Well, it makes sense, if you think about it. Dominionism= One World Religion. One World Government facilitates that.
But you’re correct. In no way is it Biblical.
Watch the IOWA Vatican smoke signals, White Smoke Cruz was elected Pope of IOWA, Black Smoke The Trumpster won.
Personally I don’t think a religious candidate will keep Hillary from winning the Womens vote. Even though abortion is law the Dems keep scaring women the GOP wants to take away choice.
Cruz is much easier to make this issue than Trump.
Cruz, a member in good standing in the “Washington Cartel”... while pretending not to be.
“You mean Mexicans???”
You are joking, aren’t you? Throw in millions of muslims, hindus, every other non-Christian religion that is specified by the 1965 immigration bill. The 1965 immigration act targeted specifically non-white, non-Christians for immigration preference.
Well, unlike Hillary or Lieawatha, who would be the first woman President, Trump won’t be the first man - just the first one in a while.
“Burn me once, shame on me; Burn me twice, shame on you!”
Huckabee and Santorum were good, but lost...now here comes Cruz, same thing....ahhh hold on a minute, didn’t I hear that before????
OMG. Chad Sweet! The Chertoff Group is practically a criminal enterprise. They are the ones responsible for the body scanners and TSA contracts in our airports...and the ones lobbying now for MANDATORY use of them for passengers.
It's nice to see that other oldtime FReepers aren't fooled by Cruz. WTG AuntB
The disagreements around here are over whether that's good or bad with reference to the general election.
I love evangelicals and very conservative people, I surround myself with them in my personal life.
But in politics, they seem to be a negative force with regard to the outcome of elections.
If they were running the country, it would be on the whole a good thing - but unfortunately, we still use elections for making those decisions.
I don’t think the national evangelical numbers just jumped to Trump. I’ve seen a few articles with similar numbers over the last few weeks to months. I think they’re just emphasizing it in this article because it’s so close to the Iowa caucus. In other words, the numbers have been fairly consistent.
Sad part is, at least in the no drinking, no smoking, no drugs area, Trump leads a more strictly biblical life than a lot of professing Evangelicals do. And before anyone starts in on his multiple marriages...well...before we start riding our high horses, let's remember that there are more than a few professing Evangelicals who fall into that category as well...
The evangelicals in Iowa vote the way they are told to vote.
Not many independent thinkers among them.
They vote in bloc for whomever they are told to vote for.
Even after Cruz worked in the GWB FL recount, GWB said he disliked Cruz. Who needs a shrub?
Isnt it a good thing overall that Trump and Cruz have almost, if not more, 50% of the support this far?
“IOW, you don’t like Cruz because he’s pro-Israel. “
Wow. I wish I had that kind of imagination! There is NO reason for anyone to conclude that from posting Cruz’s associates. NONE. My writing is all over the web, and you are just full of ....crap.
I don’t like Cruz because he’s a con man!

“Cruz is Bible-thumping in nearly every appearance. On Hannity last night Cruz quoted scripture â TWICE â to make his points.”
I’m one of the ones that is supposed to appeal to. It doesn’t. It comes across as ‘that’ guy, the never resting religious social climber, who decries the failings of the world while always relentlessly climbing its ladders. Some of us got jaded with that back in the 1980’s, when evangelical churches were actually vibrant and effective in shaping the culture. That has been a while.
Express the principles, don’t play the jargon cards.

While Cruz pooh poohs the idea that he has ties to the Council on Foreign Relations, just because his wife Heidi Cruz was a member and co-authored the Blue Print for the creation of the North American UnionAKA Open borders.
