Militiamen Plan For What's Next As The Hammonds Head To Prison
Oregon Public Broadcasting ^ | 1/3/2016 | Amanda Peacher

Posted on 01/03/2016 9:04:52 PM PST by Nextrush

Ammon Bundy emerged from a small brick building at the headquarters of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge shortly after 11am.

He wouldn't say how many protestors were present at the site of the occupied federal complex, but fewer than 20 people were visible Sunday afternoon.

The leader of the occupation spoke in cool, calm tones as he explained why and other self-described militiamen broke into and took over the complex Saturday......

Protestor LaVoy Finicum, an Arizona rancher, said they're being careful not to damage the buildings or property. He claimed the protestors accessed the buildings after they found a set of keys. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service disputed that claim.......

When asked how long they plan to occupy the complex, Bundy would only say, 'for as long as it takes.'

Finicum said he plans to stay 'until the constitution is upheld." They brought food, fuel and supplies and local supporters visited the site Sunday adding to the stockpile.

Bundy said he hasn't heard from any law enforcement "since we made the stand." No officers were visible near the refuge, nor were marked police vehicles patrolling the remote ice-covered highways near the site.

But Oregon Sen. Ron Wyden said federal and local officers are paying close attention.

"They're following it literally by the minute and that's whey it's so important that we have this close coordination between the FBI, which of course takes the lead at the federal level, because of the wildlife refuge, and the state police and the Harney County Sheriff's Office," Wyden said.

Oregon state police told OPB that a joint command center of federal, state and local law enforcement offices will be established Monday.......

Media calls these people terrorists, yet you have Black Fecal Lives Matter protesters taking over schools, and calling for cops to be murdered and that is considered “Democracy”

And these guys take over a federal park building and talking about how they'll kill any law enforcement agents who try and remove them. So the difference is?

Perfect little backdrop for the administrations town hall on gun grabbing. Just a tad too convenient IMO.

Drawing blood by the Feds over what is basically Trespassing would be stooped. But the Feds are agenda driven not smart driven.

These guys are provoking a confrontation and in the process putting a hell of a lot more than just some “time” on the line. Terrorists hide in the woodwork and randomly blow people to smithereens. That is the main difference.

Those will never happen again. Bundy Ranch changed everything. ISIS know the US gov is a paper tiger and a house of cards. So do we.

DD, great glib comment. Do you know what "crime" they committed?

They were charged with arson after they set a backfire that saved their own range land. Less than 200 acres of BLM land were burned in the process. They were found guilty, sentenced, and served their time.

Once released, the BLM, which had been trying to acquire their land for years, went to a sympathetic federal judge who re-sentenced them. Much easier to steal somebodies land when they are in jail.

Bonus question: Do you think they should do the time twice?

If you haven't been paying attention, you need to start now. Fedgov is a criminal enterprise. This should be happening in every federal building.

And it would be right because liberals/leftists are traitors and would be tyrants. They are enemies of liberty.

If it looks like a Waco buildup to a blitzkrieg attack as you postulate, the number there will grow exponentially to defend the protestors defending the Constitution. Many of the ones there already are vets and former police, so the tactics are already known.

Besides, if they do succeed in Wacoing it, what is to stop the the potentially thousands of other “crazies” from going active all over the country?

They were charged with arson after they set a backfire that saved their own range land. Less than 200 acres of BLM land were burned in the process.

Actually that was the second time. The first time they set a fire that spread to federal land was in 1999. The BLM told them not to do it again. The second time was in 2001 and that's the fire that burned 140 acres of federal land. Again, they were told it was illegal to do so without BLM approval and told not to do it again. It wasn't till this third time in 2006 that they were finally charged for the 2001 and 2006 fires. And the 2006 fire was started when there was a burn-ban in place due to dry conditions. So I'm sorry but flaunting the law is going to get you into trouble sooner or later. And later arrived for the Hammonds.

Once released, the BLM, which had been trying to acquire their land for years, went to a sympathetic federal judge who re-sentenced them. Much easier to steal somebodies land when they are in jail.

We have all seen cases recently where activist courts seem to ignore the law when they issue their rulings. And I, and I assume you as well, condemned those actions. So then how can you now back an activist judge who thinks the law does not apply to him. The crime the Hammonds were convicted of has a mandatory five year minimum sentence. The judge did not have an option to lessen that, but he did it anyway. All they are getting now is what the law required.

Bonus question: Do you think they should do the time twice?

I think they should serve what the law requires less the time already served.

Well of course. The media are enemies of the people. They serve their owners and tell whatever lies they are fed by their oligarchy. Welcome to Amerika ... the democrat’s creation version.

Just playing devil’s advocate for a moment, the best way for the Feds and Oregon state authorities to defuse this situation and turn it into a ‘nothing sandwich’ would be to just ignore the whole thing. Tell the Bundy brothers and their supporters “hey, you want that remote little federal building? you can have it, no problem”, and literally just walk away from it.

That approach alone, contrasted with what is going on from a law enforcement perspective, tells me this IS a setup, designed by the government to trigger a violent confrontation.

Tell me please, Given that Oregon is a State not a territory, what part of US Constitution Art 8 Paragraph 17 that in relevant part says

“...to exercise like Authority over all Places purchased by the Consent of the Legislature of the State in which the Same shall be, for the Erection of Forts, Magazines, Arsenals, dock-Yards, and other needful Buildings;”

allows the Federal government any authority or ownership of the land at issue here?

Fedgov are the criminals, they should do the time, not the Hammonds.
