Despite being the nation's third most populous city, Chicago far outpaces New York City, Los Angeles and every other large city in America in the sheer number of homicide and shooting victims, though it fares better than some smaller cities on a per capita comparison. And despite the attention given to Chicago's police-involved shootings, the city had fewer in 2015, with 22 people shot, than in recent years.
In an interview with the Tribune, interim Superintendent John Escalante said he plans to fight violence in 2016 by employing some of McCarthy's past strategies, including a continued focus on arresting people caught with illegal guns and allowing as many as a few hundred officers a day to work on their days off in the 20 most dangerous neighborhoods of the city.--

Maybe the goal of 500 dead still could be reached if one of those shot dies this year from gunshot wounds received in 2015.

They’re just getting revved up. 2015 won’t hold a candle to 2016. Just wait until they realize the first black president won’t get a third term.... maybe.
