President Obama has said he will take unilateral action to tackle the problem of gun violence in the US.

In his first weekly address of 2016, Mr Obama said he would meet Attorney General Loretta Lynch to discuss actions he could take.

He said he was using his executive powers as president because the US Congress has failed to address the problem.

Analysts say there will be a backlash from gun activists and Republicans.

But Mr Obama told Americans that he had received too many letters from parents, and teachers, and children, to sit around and do nothing.

"We know that we can't stop every act of violence," the president said. "But what if we tried to stop even one? What if Congress did something - anything - to protect our kids from gun violence?"

He has admitted that his inability to win Congressional backing for what he called "common sense gun laws" was the greatest frustration of his presidency.

No one can dilute or n uklkiufy the 2nd amendment without Congressional involvement, and even then it would require the consent or acquiesence of the people.

Unless Obama is God Almighty, he hasn’t a chance of doing anything except incurring the disrespect and hatered of ordinary Americans, which is Obama’s goal.

Obama wants fighting in the streets so he can declare a national emergency and impose martial law, suspending an election which he regards as going over to the Republican party, a party that he fascistically regards as the force of
discivilisation, when in fact it is the last genuine hope for a nation Obama has divided.

Obama himself is discivilisation writ large. We simply need to send him howling on his way to whatever perdition awaits him.He wants the People to exercise the 2nd amendment to accomplish that.So why fall into that trap? In the White House meeting, he probably quoted Otter from "Animal House", "I think we have to go all out. I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody's part!"

An estimated 13,712 people with an AIDS diagnosis died in 2012 (According to the CDC). In 2012, 8,897 people were murdered with firearms (according to the FBI). There were 33,561 deaths from motor vehicle accidents in 2012. Murders using guns are just not a massive cause of death in the US.

I don't see how anything that Obama can do now will do anything except provide a few more minor annoyances and sell even more guns (*). Obama has been nearly a total failure at gun control in comparison to the gun control measures that were instituted during the Reagan administration.

My 14 year old grandson called just before Christmas excited to get his first hunting permit. As Tennessee is a Open Carry State, we are used to seeing holstered weapons on people, though most carry concealed in places that don’t like our guns.

I don’t shop those places, Panearas, and McD’s can kiss my grits before I spend a dime in their stores. Only places I can’t carry are the Military Base. And I don’t give a flip about those doctors offices that have up no gun signs. I have a purse with a Concealed Compartment I got off Amazon for a good price. Has the American Flag on it.
