I don’t know. I am fine with religion but am not really comfortable with this kind of statement. It transforms Cruz’s campaign into a religious crusade...I think religion and politics don’t mix well. I like a secular leader with strong moral underpinnings, and am not so comfortable with someone implying the body of Christ will lift him up.

I have to wonder since through the ages so many have used the trappings of religion to attain wealth and power. To me making a big show of your sanctity is a red flag that you make be utilizing a religious mantle to energize people to whom religion is a powerful force. Not only am I uncomfortable with Cruz trying to gild his campaign with the banner of Christ’s sacrifice I think it may alienate a large number of people who are more reserved about religious talk. He may pull out the religious right and lose the center and the independents.

“Crusade 1.lead or take part in an energetic and organized campaign concerning a social, political, or religious issue.”

When a candidate pushes his Christianity, I’m always reminded of Jimmy Carter. Is it any wonder it turns me off?

Well the whole constitution was written with God given inalienable rights in mind so might as well burn it now. Read the writings of the Founding Fathers at the National Archives online.

It transforms Cruz's campaign into a religious crusade.

Indeed. I would go further and say that Cruz does not appear to have a religion—at least in the sense that a religion is a phenomenon that encourages people to be nice and cooperate with one another. Rather, what he has is better characterized as a mass movement. The book that best describes the phenomenon he has wrapped himself up in is not The Bible, but Eric Hoffer's The True Believer.

You are probably on the wrong website!!!

As a conservative site, Free Republic is pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-Constitution, pro-Bill of Rights, pro-gun, pro-limited government, pro-private property rights, pro-limited taxes, pro-capitalism, pro-national defense, pro-freedom, and-pro America. We oppose all forms of liberalism, socialism, fascism, pacifism, totalitarianism, anarchism, government enforced atheism, abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, racism, wacko environmentalism, judicial activism, etc. We also oppose the United Nations or any other world government body that may attempt to impose its will or rule over our sovereign nation and sovereign people. We believe in defending our borders, our constitution and our national sovereignty.

No.

St. Thomas Aquinas PROVED that Faith and Reason (science/politics, etc) can NEVER be separated. Without “Right Reason” (like in the faiths of islam/paganism/atheism/materialism, etc) there is no such thing as a “Just Law” and Individualism and Free Will.

(Now, Church and State CAN be separated but never Faith and Reason—where only the Christian faith is aligned with Natural Law Theory (Science/Logic).

There IS NO SEPARATION OF FAITH AND REASON-—none-—as St. Thomas A. proved.

Faith and Politics is NEVER separated. You are forcing a FAITH with EVERY major idea——whether it is atheism (State/man is god), satanism (sodomy, sexism), paganism (sodomy/polygamy/misogyny) or islam (sodomy/misogyny/polygamy).

Only Christian Worldview is in line with Natural Law Theory (Science/Logic) which is the basis of the Constitution. There IS no “freedom” if Christian worldview is wiped off the face of the earth, since Individualism and Free Will comes ONLY from that “faith” system. ALL people have a “Faith” system but SOME “faith” is WAY more Logical and based on Science/Truth-—like the laws of Nature which is what God’s Laws (the Bible) promote-—the most flourishing cultures of Freedom in the history of the World.

So, Cruz is right-—we have to put Christianity BACK in our “Justice” system or we have only an evil Vice System of slavery/pederasty/homosexuality/child-sacrifice.)
