Yes.

One of the principles this country was founded on was freedom of religion which is essentially, freedom of choice. I’m a Christian but what about a close friend of mine who is a Buddhist or another who is an atheist? They have the same rights to their religion as I do.

I get very nervous when someone espouses a theology that says they are right, all others are not, and that they have the right to determine how I should live. That may be okay in a family unit or a church but not in a country.

I know you’ve been here for a long time.
I’ve read many of your post.

The ONLY sentence in your original post that I intended to take great issue with is....
“I think religion and politics don’t mix well.”

I was reminded of this quote.
Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.
John Adams

I don’t want Cruz or anyone else as president to be the “religious authority” of our country.
But I believe it is important for a president whether Cruz or Trump ( I am not questioning Trumps beliefs), to have a commitment to the constitution and the moral and religious values our country was founded on.

We agree there as well. Perhaps it is the word politics that is separating us. To me politics is what you say and governing is what you do. I agree completely that it is vital that our President has “a commitment to the constitution and the moral and religious values our country was founded on.”

I remain uncomfortable with overt religious undertones as part of politics because I feel it as a type of demagoguery, keyed to an emotional rather than a logical appeal.

LOL

I just showed your post to my husband. He read it, said, “Good God, FR has gone nuts”, and walked away, shaking his head.

Lol! Yup, it’s a hilarious thought, so I’m glad you and your husband were amused.

But seriously, after Brietbart proclaimed “Politics is downstream from culture”, I looked at both the Obama and Reagan phenomena, and agreeed with Brietbart. Both their presidencies were possible only because of their respective cultures.

I think a Trump presidency is more likely and appropriate to our culture, especially with the turn it’s starting to take, and Cruz just doesn’t play well out of the current culture.

Thus the Rick/Deanna comparisons.

Okay, CatherineofArogon! So you and Ted Cruz think the declaration of the Presbyterian Church on LGBT issues renders them officially UnChristian? Then what is your opinion of the many other denominations that have adopted the same policy? Does that make them all non Christians too? Just what, in yours and your candidate’s estimation, does it take to be a “real” Christian? Please provide your criteria since you seem to think you can identify those who are not.

I would also like for you to provide your candidate’s stance on LGBT issues. I’m sure you can. Donald Trump has provided his even though it’s unpopular with many, myself included. He wasn’t afraid to lay it out.

If Ted Cruz thinks it’s a good campaign strategy to depict those who oppose his nomination as “unChristian” and any disagreement with him as “attacks” then so be it. I don’t see the wisdom in it. Not only will it enrage Liberals; as you’re so proud of saying, but it will also alienate and anger many Christians as well.

No.

St. Thomas Aquinas PROVED that Faith and Reason (science/politics, etc) can NEVER be separated. Without “Right Reason” (like in the faiths of islam/paganism/atheism/materialism, etc) there is no such thing as a “Just Law” and Individualism and Free Will.

(Now, Church and State CAN be separated but never Faith and Reason—where only the Christian faith is aligned with Natural Law Theory (Science/Logic).

There IS NO SEPARATION OF FAITH AND REASON-—none-—as St. Thomas A. proved.

Faith and Politics is NEVER separated. You are forcing a FAITH with EVERY major idea——whether it is atheism (State/man is god), satanism (sodomy, sexism), paganism (sodomy/polygamy/misogyny) or islam (sodomy/misogyny/polygamy).

Only Christian Worldview is in line with Natural Law Theory (Science/Logic) which is the basis of the Constitution. There IS no “freedom” if Christian worldview is wiped off the face of the earth, since Individualism and Free Will comes ONLY from that “faith” system. ALL people have a “Faith” system but SOME “faith” is WAY more Logical and based on Science/Truth-—like the laws of Nature which is what God’s Laws (the Bible) promote-—the most flourishing cultures of Freedom in the history of the World.

So, Cruz is right-—we have to put Christianity BACK in our “Justice” system or we have only an evil Vice System of slavery/pederasty/homosexuality/child-sacrifice.)

“The Body of Christ should be awakened and energized for the sake of Jesus himself, not for some politician.”

Agree.

LOL hard day. Stressed to the max and didn’t fall asleep until 7am then woke at 9. I really shouldn’t post under these conditions. I will though. There are many thoughts. I will re-read the posts to make sure it’s not duplicated.
