I know you’ve been here for a long time.
I’ve read many of your post.

The ONLY sentence in your original post that I intended to take great issue with is....
“I think religion and politics don’t mix well.”

I was reminded of this quote.
Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.
John Adams

I don’t want Cruz or anyone else as president to be the “religious authority” of our country.
But I believe it is important for a president whether Cruz or Trump ( I am not questioning Trumps beliefs), to have a commitment to the constitution and the moral and religious values our country was founded on.

We agree there as well. Perhaps it is the word politics that is separating us. To me politics is what you say and governing is what you do. I agree completely that it is vital that our President has “a commitment to the constitution and the moral and religious values our country was founded on.”

I remain uncomfortable with overt religious undertones as part of politics because I feel it as a type of demagoguery, keyed to an emotional rather than a logical appeal.
