'Super Pacs' Supporting Ted Cruz Plan $1 Million Advertising Buy
NY Times ^ | 12/31/2015 | Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Martin

A string of allied “super PACs” supporting the presidential campaign of Senator Ted Cruz of Texas is planning a $1 million television, digital and radio advertising buy in the early voting states, with the heaviest spending in Iowa, a spokeswoman for the group said.

The super PACs, both collectively and individually called Keep the Promise, are flush with cash, and this spending is the biggest investment in television advertising that any of them have made this year.

The ad buy includes television advertising in Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina. By midday Thursday, $700,000 was reserved for television time in Iowa, according to a person at a firm that tracks media spending.

Officials with the group would not say what type of ads would be aired or whether they would be positive about Mr. Cruz or negative about other candidates.

Super PACs pay much higher rates for advertising than candidates do, so the amount of airtime that the $1 million will go toward is far less than what campaigns can get. But candidates have typically relied on these outside groups to focus on attacking rivals.

There are 536 billionaires in the US right now.

Since they are all (according to you) getting airtime, name them all. Or 20.

You are weakly attempting a straw man argument - I never said billionaires were good OR bad.

Cruz’s donors that want him to back amnesty are groups - Club for Growth and Goldman Sachs.

I guess you don’t have anything to add to an intelligent discussion since you attempt to change the subject with silly statements.

Which constitutes what percentage of Cruz' donations?

Less than 3%

But you trust the guy who was so hard up for business that he was forced to donate to Democrats for 20 years.

Hard up for business? LOL, he is worth billions! I’d say he did quite well.

The problem is that the billionaires financing Cruz are Pro-Pot, Gay advocates, etc:

Heard Trump say he will start spending 2 million a week on ads. His will likely be attack ads instead of positive ads.

I should have been more clear. When I wrote “Trump is beholden to nobody,” I was parroting the words of Trumpbots. I think that line, that only the wealthy are pure of heart and pure of motive, is ridiculous.

“However, the fact he isn't accountable to anyone is also the same positions dictators take.”

You are exactly correct. He wants to change this country by himself to be whatever he wants - that is a dictator and that is what he is and has been all his life. He issues orders for his company and it happens right then to give him what he wants. His modus operandi is no different than Obama’s. Both are dictators. Many people are hoping for a kind dictator in him but he is still a dictator. People will see this if he is president and he does “x” by himself and it is against the people. He will not care as he will get his “x” regardless of the people. It will be tragic if he is president.

As a Cruz man I hope they make better adds than the ones I have heard here in AZ. The folks ought to look at Regan’s work. The Morning in America adds specifically. That is how one makes an emotional appeal to people over the airways.

See how that works out (I am guessing not great) as Cruz hasn’t attacked Trump except for the small dust-up last month..

Actually that’s not true at all. The Cruz campaign received 670,000 donations from 300,000 donors who gave an average of about $67.

Trump likes fights because he likes to hit back and make people squirm, as he has stated. Trump loves to leave himself open for the remarks made about him by the media because it sells him to the public. If there isn’t discord sufficient to make it in the news he will create it....and does....that’s what ‘sensationalists’ do.

You’re right however about the addition...only it’s Trump who has the addition to the media.....camera’s...and action...stage left!
