But even if enrollment tops 12 million, that's barely more than had signed up last year - when the administration said 11.7 million had enrolled.
Whatever the number is, it's inflated, because the administration counts anyone who went through the process of selecting a plan, not those who have actually paid for it. It would be like Amazon counting anything anyone put in their shopping cart as a sale.
Last year, the initial 11.7 million "enrollees" had dropped by 25% once the non-payers got subtracted out.
That's why the White House figures that, by the end of next year, actual enrollment will have been whittled down to 10 million.

2016 has the really cool penalties kick in.

I’m really curious to see if they make an effort to find people that haven’t signed up.
How is that even possible? I mean, aren’t the vast majority that need this un-/under-employed anyway? How can the IRS TAX them, if they’re not filing a return for lack of income?
Just curious - I may need to go into this VOID if my VA benefits fall through. (They shouldn’t, but just in case...)
So now, 12 million of the 40 million sign up and that's considered a success?
Yup, the big penalties kick in with even higher rates. That means 10s of millions will be made criminals, including moi. That isn’t going to fly, there would be open revolt.
I would imagine there will be a lot of dead people when all is said and done. People who just didn't go have things checked out until they absolutely had to and it was too late.
if theyâre not filing a return for lack of income?
Perhaps the EIC!
Actually, Diana, if you receive an Advanced Premium Tax Credit (reduced rate on coverage), you HAVE to file a tax return, even if there is no other requirement to file (e.g. no income). If you do not file a tax return, you are disqualified from receiving the APTC or cost sharing options in the following year. The IRS sent out over a million letters to taxpayers who did not yet file as of July.
Just wait a little over a Year for Trumpcare—Its like Obamacare only it really works and is affordable.
I knew there was a catch...
I’m hanging on!
