Brash candidacy changing practice for political campaigns
Critics of Republican presidential primary front-runner and billionaire Donald Trump, not having encountered his type of self-reliant, self-funded, brash and blunt candidacy, have taken to lobbing challenges to his ballot access to oppose him.
Unsuccessfully, so far.
But analysts do point out that getting the GOP nomination actually is a laborious process of lining up dozens, then hundreds, then thousands of delegates who are party faithful, and they wonder if the earthquake-generating candidate can establish the foot soldier network to do that.
One of the complaints to Trump's ballot status happened in New Hampshire, where a former state Republican Party executive, Fergus Cullen, claimed Trump should not be allowed on the GOP ballot for several reasons, including that Trump has a history of being a Democrat and independent, and Trump's views, "expressed over decades, are inconsistent with the Republican Party platform and the Republican Party of New Hampshire's Statement of Principles and By Laws."
A report in WMUR explained that after a hearing "that lasted two minutes, the five-member commission voted unanimously that the challenge filed by Fergus Cullen was without merit."
New Hampshire Ballot Commission Chairman Brad Cook described Cullen's challenge as "grandstanding of the first order, and I didn't appreciate it."
"It was trying to make an editorial statement," he said. "The commission - regardless of what anybody thinks of the merits or demerits, or the philosophy or anything about a candidate - our sole role is to figure out if a filing was legal and accurate."
There was another challenge mounted in South Carolina, right about the time of the first GOP presidential debate when Trump refused to promise he would not leave the party and stage a third-party run. He has since stated he's committed to the party.

I hope the Dems and GOPe fail in their attempt to cheat.
GO TRUMP!
Hope that you had a Happy Christmas.
Most of the early primaries and caucuses are proportional allocation of delegates generally speaking with South Carolina the notable exception.
In Florida on March 15th and from there forward into the more liberal states the winner take all formats begin.
Florida on March 15th could be critical in any GOPe plans to control the process and stop Trump from winning.
If they can’t stop Trump there he will runaway with delegates as the winner take all states roll in. Trump may have some trouble in certain GOPe states like OH and PA with the separate slates of delegates apart from the candidate only vote.
Here in PA the GOPe has all candidates for delegate running uncommitted creating confusion in the voting booth that can only be broken by 18 separate campaigns in each congressional district to tell voters which of the long list of delegate candidates supports the presidential candidate in question.
The delegate election is separate from voting for candidates for POTUS and supporters of Trump or any other candidate will have to be told in each of the 18 congressional districts which three delegate candidates to vote for.
Thanks! I did have a Happy Christmas.
Thanks!
Fergus Cullen = New Hampshire Nazi.
I hope to see a nominee who is as radically conservative as 0bama has been radically liberal.
At my advanced age it is, I believe, my last opportunity to see it.
This is an important reminder to watch out for all the many little hurdles they put in the way.
This was always going to be an uphill fight.
They allowed Dole and McCain on the ballot.
I hope all Freepers had a Merry Christmas and are enjoying the Christmas season, right up through New Year’s Day.
And I hope more than anything that the New Year brings nothing but wonderful political news for Donald Trump and a continuation of a winning campaign effort that is well into an advanced stage at this very moment. Happy New Year, future President Trump!
That would make for a VERY happy New Year, indeed!
I hope the Dems and GOPe fail in their attempt to cheat. >>>
me too but they have succeeded so far. my gf dad (84) and his (gf 78) are voting for trump. my brother likes rubio. doesn’t trust cruz? and doesn’t like trump too bombastic. and his wife now wants to buy a handgun.
Yep, Florida is their firewall.
right now they are patting themselves on the back for the rule that dictated proportional allocation of delegates for all primaries/caucus before March 15th.
But on March 15th, the big states start to come online with WTA formats.
That when the GOP no longer needs the services of the extra 8 or 9 candidates and they will drop out BEFORE FLA.
In FLA, Rubio and/or Bush will make their existential stand.
It's all they got left.
I expect one of two things. Either the electoral college will flip us the finger and not vote for him despite his wins.
If they don’t do that, the GOPe that hates him will combine with the dems and impeach him.
Be ready for anything.

Trump hatred is so strong among the elites the WSJ is backing Billary. Well, here’s a flattering story on them - Bill apparently is her ‘secret weapon’. Ha!
I was wondering why Trump was still bashing Bush so hard:
1. The super money people gave a ton to Jeb Bush and Trump wants to ride him out of the race so he doesn’t blow that 50 million plus his campaign and PACs have on attack ads;
2. Attacking Bush as the ‘politics of the past’ is a nice way to get in voters minds, “Been there, done that.” And then he moves to Hillary Clinton. “We don’t need Bill Clinton’s third term in office. Can we even impeach a First Husband?”
Happy Christmas and a New Year that Trumps all.
""There even was the report this week from the Christian Times Newspaper that said it learned several states âhave all REMOVED Trumps name from their states upcoming Republican primaries.
""Election judges in Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada, North Carolina, and Florida all allegedly forwarded messages to the Trump campaign on Wednesday informing the Republican frontrunner that his candidacy was invalid per state laws," the report said.
"If not resolved by February 1st, Trump's campaign for the Republican nomination is effectively over.""
