So, Congress made off with the goodies. How corrupt is that. It’s the stuff of King John.
“I see you have some money there. Give it to me.”
Congress did a little asset forfeituring of their own.
In English... it is over.
.
No honor among thieves.
This is just the fed asset forfeiture. It doesn’t impact the state-level asset forfeiture programs.
Better than nothin’, I suppose.
The all powerful DC cabal is changing networks. We move from “Do You Want to Be a Millionaire* to *Let’s Make a Deal*
Might there be a far better term than *corrupt*?

GACK! the above were voted into office, or given the authority by those voted in. The snake feeds off the unsuspecting and then begins to eat its own. There are no friends among thieves.
They didn't see that one coming!
Good. CAF is blatantly unconstitutional and a violation of the 5th Amendment.
You should not be deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process. The police should not be able to rob someone by the side of the road, then KEEP the freaking money. Billions of dollars on cash and property is being funneled into local PD’s with this program. The fact that they can keep the money - with no accountability - encourages them to look for something to take.
I cannot believe that this hasn’t been stopped by the SCOTUS.
Absolute power....
Actually the asset forfeiture program is more the action of a government of thugs than any legitimage political entity. It has been grossly abused by local goons in law enforcement to seize the assets of citizens far beyond any legitimate compensation for offences of a trival nature. Perhaps these thugs will be less eager to do so in the future knowing the beneficiaries are the bigger thieves than they in Washington.
Well I guess there’s nothing left in social security to rob.
Asset forfeiture is a massive scam. Family court is an even bigger scam.
"Those thieves in Washington made off with the money we stole!"
Karma's a harsh mistress, ain't it?
“Pray they don’t change the deal any further”...
Maybe the local LEOs won’t be so motivated to steal people’s stuff.
Good. Local jurisdictions have been using the federal seizure sharing program to end run the [long overdue and far too timid IMO] reforms in state asset forfeiture (which, since they’re state/county entities, they shouldn’t be able to do anyway). Hopefully this will remove the incentive to do that.
This program has been a corrupting force in American policing.
