Authorities in Granite Quarry are looking for the people responsible for littering several locations with Ku Klux Klan notes.
Granite Quarry-Faith Joint Police Authority Chief Mark Cook told WBTV that someone dropped the fliers in various locations sometime before noon on Monday. The fliers, which start off with "Merry Christmas," go on to read "Join the Klan today and preserved the white Christian ways."
Fliers without the Christmas message that read "Join The Klan And Save Our Land" were also reportedly dropped off at several places in Iredell County.
The fliers are from the East Coast Knights of the True Invisible Empire, a group out of Pennsylvania. Police said they seemed to be tossed out at random locations. Officers canvassed neighborhoods and destroyed about 30 fliers that they found.
"It was disappointing to say the least to see this ignorant message of hate littered in our Town by a member(s) of a known hate group, masked in a Christmas message," Chief Cook wrote in a letter to WBTV. "Our community and department does not condone or support any such activity or the spreading of hate."
Chief Cook continued, "It is my hope that those that try to spread their message of hate would open their mind and heart and seek to bring unity instead of spreading messages of ignorance and division; especially during this holiday season."
Police believe the person dropping off the flier was driving a small dark-colored car with a loud muffler. They say there’s nothing in the flyer that is a hate crime or hate speech, but officers are still looking for whoever dropped the packages in people's yards.
"We’re at least looking at charging them with littering and then contacting the state and local officials that deal more with hate crime involvement,†Chief Cook said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Granite Quarry Police.
The odds of the person “distributing the flyers” being white are about 1 million to 1.
Why is the police investigating!?!?!?
Whichever it is, one trip to Kinko’s probably blew their budget.
Is it illegal to distribute flyers now or something?
Besides, the people who did this were black, in which case when the police discover the true culprits absolutely no charges will be filed.

Or are they afraid that it might just make sense in the era of BLM, free college, and “safe spaces” for everyone but the white man?

I have never liked the concept of ‘hate crmes’...so even if there had been something ‘hateful’ in the flyers, the police should not be investigating.
Maybe to issue sommonses for littering so they can APPEAR to be doing something?

IMO anyone willingly associating themselves with the KKK would just as soon smear doggie hoofah all over themselves. They know they’d be that popular.

Good golly. If they cannot ban the Hell’s Angels and they can pass themselves off as a club how on earth can the KKK be illegal. Being offensive is not a crime. I find many things offensive but tolerate them because we are supposedly free.

There is nothing in my religion or belief system that thinks the KKK, the Black Panthers or the PLA are good guys but Chief Cook needs to read the First Amendment and stick to fining littering.
Yes it is. But humans are hardwired to avoid being universally ridiculed & condemned.
