Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee on Wednesday blasted Ted Cruz after a POLITICO report quoted the Texas senator telling a donor that fighting gay marriage wouldn't be a "top-three priority" for his administration.
"Conservatives are being asked to 'coalesce' around yet another corporately-funded candidate that says something very different at a big donor fundraiser in Manhattan than at a church in Marshalltown," Huckabee said in a statement released by his campaign Wednesday afternoon. "Shouldn't a candidate be expected to have authenticity and consistency, instead of having to look at a map to decide what to believe and what to say?"
Cruz's stance, expressed privately to a group of moderate Republican donors in New York earlier this month, seems to contradict his public statements. In June, for example, he told NPR that gay marriage opposition would be "front and center" in his campaign. But in July, he rejected a Supreme Court ruling on marriage equality, insisting marriage is a state issue.

You are welcome. :-)
Four justices are near or over 80; two liberals, Breyer and Ginsberg, swing vote Kennedy, and conservative Scalia. Of them Ginsberg is said to often fall asleep during arguments and is somewhat frail. So it is possible that the next president could appoint up to 4 SC justices.
Cruz is the master debater as his response shows. He’ll likely take the fed govts boot off the necks of states who do not comply with issueing marriage licenses to homos.
So now Teds a fag, is that the implication?. LOL
Yer Hilarious
The New Three Stooges who would never get my vote, which is reserved for either Cruz or Trump.
your boy trump is WAY left of Cruz on this issue.....you’re just totally out to lunch
Overturning the SCOTUS is hard to do. Look at Roe v Wade.
Huckster is a better and far more authentic Christian conservative candidate than Cruz, the opportunistic, lawyer, politician.
Wrong. And not even close. Your hate for Ted Cruz is obvious.
C of A: read the blithering idiots here and post 44....they are beyond delusional.

Huckabee is basically a stalking horse for the establishment, but you’re free to believe what you want.
Can’t help but also add, where was the blasted GOP when this abomination was being pushed in the first place? The GOP, which used to tout “family values” during their convention speeches a few decades back? Just like they used to speak up for the 10th Amemndment and states rights? The GOP, which nominated that scumbag bastard Romney, who as governor of MA stood back and helped facilitate this sick insanity onto the country in the first place?
Damn, damn, damn the GOP to the deepest, darkest corners of hell. The GOP helped put the dagger right in the heart of this country, delivering it right into the hands of the homo-fascists. Didn’t even stand up to the bakers, the photographers, the wedding-chapel owners. May this godforsaken, faggot-America go down in blazes, and strangle everyone who helped usher it in.
Neither Conservative nor a Christian I would have anything to do with.
I am going to restrain my indignancy for a moment in the hope that you really aren't as ass-backwards as this post would imply.
So, to educate you, it is in fact the homosexual lobby that has tried again and again to propel this issue into the national frame. It is generally the federal courts that have foisted this on us. In almost every case when it has been a state issue, state legislators and voters have reaffirmed their support for traditional marriage.
Your reference to Ted Cruz standing "shoulder to shoulder with the homosexual lobby" is not only insulting, and stupid, it's a flat-assed lie, even when you cleverly pose it as as a hypothetical.
Shame on you.
Not gonna flame: it’s a recognition that while GWB did a whole lotta good things, he left us set up for Obama in so many ways.
If any president has gay marriage in his top three matters of importance, he needs to reevaluate his schedule.
Huckabee shows himself with this to be a reactionary, opportunistic idiot.
Cruz said the same thing, in the open, on Colbert’s show a little while back. Cruz has said the same thing elsewhere multiple times, as referenced and cited on MANY other threads on this subject today.
Huckabee, and anyone, playing this up as some big revelation, a secret inconsistancy, etc is either being disingenuous or an ignoramus.
I presume the people attacking Cruz in this thread are Trump supporters. I’d like to hear them articulate and defend their candidate’s position on this issue (if they know what it is).
It shifts even month or so...
Illegals, terrorism, and gun rights. THOSE are the top three issues, closely followed by job creation.
“Gay marriage,” short of a Constitutional amendment (which won’t happen), is unfortunately a fact of life now.
